The GTG platform under the Global Alternatives group invests in key transportation assets across the globe with key focus on the Maritime, Energy Logistics, Railcars, and the Aviation sectors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understanding the detailed functioning of the GTG business and come to speed on all day-to-day functioning through knowledge transfers and mentoring sessions
  • Partner and perform all activities within the Asset management functions of the GTG business
  • Within the Asset Management functions, the person would partner closely with a variety of stakeholders like the Asset Managers, Finance Controllers, Commercial Managers, Technical Managers, Technology, Marketing and the Operations teams to drive various projects and for a smooth and seamless functioning of the funds on a day to day basis.
  • The person would be responsible for running various periodic and ad-hoc Asset Management reports and support the monitoring of the day-to-day operating metrics (KPIs) of all the Transportation assets within the GTG portfolio which might also include presentation to senior management
  • Within the Acquisition functions, the person would partner with the Acquisition team in several ad-hoc and recurring acquisition/disposition analysis using various valuation methodologies and bespoke research activities
  • The person would also be expected to assist the acquisition team in updating quarterly Valuations model for all Transportation assets, writing portions of IC memos, sector write-ups, thematic research pieces, and other ad-hoc presentations prepared for Investors, Lenders or Senior Management
  • Performing various need-based analysis and inferences on the finance side of the business to make sure that the group is a) optimally leveraged b) fully compliant with lender requirements and c) managing its receivables/payables functions
  • Would be expected to source data for above analyses through various sources like Transportation Databases, External/Internal research notes, Secondary research and several other website sources.

:

  • MBA, CFA, CAIA or related academic credentials with a robust academic background, good understanding of Finance and Alternatives asset products
  • At least 4 years of post-qualification experience in Asset management, Alternatives, Investment Banking, Consulting or Research and Analytics related roles covering Transportation/Energy/Logistics/Oil & Gas sector
  • A quick learner with an analytical bent of mind and a strong passion for the Maritime/Global Transportation business
  • Research/Analytics mindset coupled with high attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of the global Transportation industry and the understanding of the global macro environment and its impact on the transportation sector
  • Hands on experience with MS office applications and advanced Excel skills
  • Exposure to financial modeling skills and understanding of asset valuation techniques like DCF, Sales/Transaction comparable, Sum of the parts (SOTP) approach etc.
  • Strong ability to interpret financial statements and reports
  • Well-developed and proven Written and Oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Exposure to data visualization tools (like Tableau, QlikView) and automation tools (like Xceptor and Alteryx) is desirable but not mandatory
