Sr UX designer

Your responsibilities
At Philips, we follow a human-centered design process including analysis, exploration, storytelling, concept design, prototyping, concept and usability testing. The ideal candidate has strong visualization, interaction, information architecture and prototyping skills in addition to being comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Responsible end-to-end for the optimal user experience of at least one product, thus securing high use-quality through meticulous attention to detail.
- Customer focus – You put the user experience first, all the time every time, through early-on experience prototypes and design statements you develop deep understanding on people behavior, business context, and industry domain. You frame and translate research objectives into design research methods and KPIs. Prioritizing insights to drive UX design decisions.
- Create elegant UX solutions that excite our customers, by applying superior knowledge and sensibility in the craft of UI/UX to meet user needs and business objectives. You apply strong systems thinking and effectively communicate UX designs, based on strong understanding of the overall product, technology, end user(s) and industry trends.
- Provide specifications, recommendations and guidance for design enhancements to usability designers, product designers and development teams, contributing expertise to improve product functionality, workflow and user satisfaction.
- Business impact – You drive alignment and commitment to UX/UI design decisions by soliciting, synthesizing and managing stakeholder feedback, and partnering with peers and stakeholders to deliver tangible results (early & often). You facilitate cross-functional with key functions, such as: marketing, clinical and usability experts, and engineering, to ensure feasible outcomes.
- Remains flexible on changing scope and identifies challenges pro-actively.
- Stays on top of developments and insights regarding medical device design for all markets.
- Complies with legal site agreements, including non-disclosure, safety risk assessment, insurance, informed consent, and professional service agreements.
- Best practices and improvements – You manage your own work in an agile process and create UX solutions in-line with internal and industry standards (e.g. brand, design system, industry heuristics, a11y, etc.). You have strong expertise on internal and external standards and best practices to drive design system and team process improvements and knowledge on UX, UI, Agile and other important topics.
- Development – You have the ambition to excel in your craft of UX/UI design, incl deepen your expertise on related competences, and you continuously level the playing ground for peers in and outside of design. You proactively identify opportunities for self-development and mentor, onboard or assist junior designers, and proactively increase the knowledge of our UX community.
- Team up - You actively partner with stakeholders across the enterprise as strong, customer experience and solutions-oriented contributors. To earn Design a “place at the table” the Designers must show backbone in dialogues with the Stakeholders, disagree … and then commit.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills
- You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interaction-, Service- or Industrial Design
- 5+ years of experience as UI/UX designer in relevant companies, agencies, institutions or own consultancy.
- Understands and applies broader business and market context, able to synthesize different perspectives and reframe the design challenge.
- You are passionate about innovation, user interface design and overall user experience
- You have a strong aesthetic and visual sensitivity
- Expertise and talent in interaction design and visual design as well as for your specific competency, knowledge and capability.
- Experience in using the following tools: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office tools, Miro and flexibilty in adapting towards new tools and way of working.
- Provides creative direction in and across projects, thinking holistically in eco-systems.
- Experience with complex systems for professional use in a regulated environment like in healthcare is preferred.
- Independently leads design delivery in projects of high complexity with good understanding of budget and time constraints, driving efficiency and holding project level design quality reviews.
- Works together with or consulting project stakeholders, actively managing relationships and challenging the status quo to drive innovation and step-up for the user.
- Effectively mentor and coach more junior Designers.
- Experience with UX design for Artificial Intelligence and associated interaction design paradigms preferred
Beneficial skills:
- Experience with Agile way-of-working, Scrum methodology and SAFe.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- A getting-things-done mentality and pro-active mindset.
- Understanding of Quality System Regulations (QSR);
- Understanding of Risk Management process;
