Your key responsibilities
As Data Engineer, you will do:
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using modern tools like Databricks, dbt, … to facilitate efficient ETL/ELT processes.
- Data Migration: Lead and execute data migration projects, ensuring seamless transition of data from legacy systems to new cloud-based platforms while maintaining data integrity and quality.
- Cloud Platform Management: Set up, configure, and manage cloud-based data platforms (e.g., databricks, snowflake, azure) to support data storage, processing, and analytics.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, provide insights, and ensure alignment between data engineering efforts and business objectives.
- DataOps Implementation: Implement DataOps practices to enhance collaboration between data engineering and operations teams, ensuring continuous integration and delivery of data solutions.
- Technology Exploration: Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in data engineering, evaluating and integrating new tools and frameworks (e.g., dbt, Python libraries) to improve data processing and analytics.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data pipelines and processes for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in cloud environments.
- Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data workflows, architecture, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with data governance standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other IT teams to ensure that data solutions meet analytical needs and support business intelligence initiatives.
Skills and attributes for success
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or another relevant subject.
- Minimum 2 Years Experience: Proven experience in data engineering roles, demonstrating a solid understanding of data modeling and platform building.
- Proficient in Python and Coding: Practical experience with Python or other programming languages, enabling the development of data pipelines and automation scripts.
- Database Technologies Expertise: Familiarity with various database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) to effectively manage and manipulate data.
- Cloud Technologies Knowledge: Experience with Azure and Databricks is a significant advantage, showcasing the ability to work with modern cloud-based data platforms.
- SQL Proficiency: Strong SQL skills are essential for querying and managing relational databases, ensuring efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Client-Facing Experience: Ability to interact with clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and translating them into technical solutions.
- Collaborative Team Player: Experience working collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to collective goals and supporting team members.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proactive Attitude: A "go-getter" mentality, demonstrating initiative and a willingness to tackle challenges and drive projects forward.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Dutch or French, along with proficient business English, to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and clients.
