As a Senior Software Engineer on the DVE team, you will create the firmware architecture for key systems in validation and manufacturing and work closely with hardware teams to ensure our product meets its functional and performance goals. You will contribute to the design of various firmware components of our products, including feature development for low-level hardware. You will work on bring-up of new platforms, validating subsystems, and ensuring product quality. Your code will touch every device in Mixed Reality. You will also get the opportunity to work with a cross functional team of extremely talented engineers to deliver innovation at scale and own delivery of product across Mixed Reality Hardware.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with embedded Linux, UEFI environments, scripting languages and model design frameworks, and utilizing AI assistance to develop reusable, well documented code.
  • Experience with coding, debugging and troubleshooting, and firmware development.
  • Experience with some or all the following: firmware development, SoC bring-up, Graphics stack bring-up, bootloaders, platform initialization and security, board support package build process, peripherals such as PCIe, NVMe, I2C, SPI, USB, UARTs, OS primitives, memory management, scheduling, interrupts, or threading.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
  • Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.
  • Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineer.
