Interning as a Junior software developer in bioinformatics you will:
- Collaborate with a team of software engineers, machine learning experts, bioinformaticians and cheminformaticians
- Develop new solutions with real-world impact that help scientists understand disease and invent treatment
What should you know / have:
- Current student of bachelor, masters or doctorate program
- Strong programming skills
- Strong knowledge of Python
- Familiarity with UNIX systems
We will be happy if you know any of these:
- Simple web app development (such as Dash, Streamlit, Gradio, Flask, Django)
- Data visualization (Matplotlib, Plotly)
- Machine learning (scikit-learn), deep learning (pytorch, tensorflow)
- Frontend development (HTML, JavaScript)
- Docker
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
What will you do / learn:
- Develop simple web applications for visualization of scientific data
- Leverage cutting-edge computing resources (AWS, internal high-performance cluster) for executing computational tools on bioinformatics or cheminformatics datasets
- Contribute to real-world applications of state-of-the-art technologies (machine learning, deep learning, NLP) on problems in bioinformatics or cheminformatics
- Meet motivated and technically-skilled colleagues who will be happy to coach you on different topics from the industry
- Establish relationships with scientists from different MSD laboratories around the World, with opportunities for short-term company visit abroad as part of your future career in MSD
