About the Role
- - - - Basic Qualifications ----
- 10+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms. Including 5+ years in managing engineering teams of 10+ people
- Ability to lead teams in Amsterdam and collaborate with stakeholder and sister teams in the US
- Ability to attract talent in Amsterdam by setting the standard for excellence
- Good judgment about shipping as fast as possible while still making sure that products are built in a sustainable, responsible way — and you’re comfortable making mistakes, provided you and your team learn from them
- Technical strength and deep knowledge of the whole stack to give phenomenal architecture and implementation mentorship to the teams who will count on your experience
- Ability to set the team up for success through mentoring, teaching, and reviewing
- Dedication towards keeping the Uber experience consistent for users and striving to make any issues invisible to riders
- Ability to jump in and take ownership of problems that may not even be in your team’s scope

- Proficiency in Operating Systems, Linux, Virtual Machines, Container (Docker/containerd), Cluster Management (Kubernetes, Mesos) technologies
- Knowledge of Big Data (e.g. Spark, Ray) technologies
