The BMC Senior z/OS Consultant provides leadership on technical delivery engagements by implementing and delivering mainframe infrastructure projects. A Senior Consultant works closely with the Practice Lead (PL) and Project Management (PM) team to meet the approved Customer requirements. The Senior Consultant performs the technical hands to keyboard and over the shoulder software and configuration changes on customer systems. This position will have a primary focus on our AMI Cloud product suite which includes AMI Cloud Data, Vault, and Analytics components. AMI Cloud requires knowledge and experience in mainframe hardware and software infrastructure, including backup and archive technologies, storage environments, system software configurations, security, unix/linux, zCX, and object storage. This is a fast-growing area within the BMC product space. • Contributes to Customer ready design documentation to support all Functional requirements, Technical Solution Design, Test Strategy and Deployment Plans
  • Advises on updates to the Project or Service Schedule to the PM, PL, SA or SDM
  • Recognizes customer requests that fall outside scope of the SOW or any new opportunities and brings it to the attention of the PM/PL for further review.
  • Successfully moves Customer into production on the target BMC solution, transitioning the project to closure with both the customer and BMC teams.

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

  • 10+ relevant years mainframe technical experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer:
  • 3+ years with HSM/FDR-ABR back up experience with RTO and RPO knowledge

  • Solid experience in Mainframe Network/TCPIP/USS/SNA, RACF, SMS, Tape and Disk Storage
  • Consultative skills with customers, contractors when driving deliverables and setting priorities
