Responsibilities
- Shape the vision for our Hotels team that shall take hotels at Airbnb into the next phase of growth.
- Set the technical roadmap for the team. Help the team make the right choices.
- Work closely with your stakeholders to shape the technical strategy and drive alignment on the direction of the team
- Proactively share context with the team, help the team connect the dots of their work with broader company initiatives
- Collaborate with the team in USA and Germany, manage the on-call support effectively supporting the market managers and operations team
- Mentor top engineers across the organization, establish and demand best practices through your engineering leadership
- Immerse yourself in the team’s entire software development lifecycle and have a hands-on impact in shaping the process
- Share your team’s work with Airbnb tech leadership, get buy-in, and influence product strategy across Airbnb to use your awesome platform.
- 3-5+ years of engineering management experience, with 9+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters or 6+ years of industry experience with a PhD
- Experienced building payments or relevant systems
- Strong coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
- Experience architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Familiarity with patterns, libraries and frameworks for building and testing services, and service-to-service communication.
- Experience in partnering with other leaders in setting product strategy
- Successfully partnered with Product, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and/or Compliance functions
- Track record in partnering with recruiting to build incredible engineering teams
- Actively coached and mentored team members in their careers
- Consistently made culture choices that positively impact all of engineering
