  • Review sophisticated estate plans, including wills and trusts, to obtain a thorough understanding of the plans and flow of assets, with the ultimate goal of providing insightful client materials summarizing the estate plans.
  • Review sophisticated premarital and post-marital agreements, as well as divorce settlement agreements, with the ultimate goal of providing a summary of financial obligations, relevant terms, and highlighting applicable state laws.
  • Research and building out internal materials (e.g., U.S. state matrix for matrimonial advisory practice, including state-specific answers to the top 5-10 questions).
  • Partner with subject matter experts in US federal income tax, transfer tax, and matrimonial law to provide meaningful material and presentations to clients and prospective clients. Prepare or updating presentations and materials for client and prospective client meetings.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on client needs, meeting agendas, and managing client follow-up. Provide insights during pre-call meetings and contributing meaningfully.

  • Identify and summarize key language in legal agreements or investment offering documents. Willingness to help build out, maintain, and be instrumental in the intake process of estate plan reviews for complex UHNW clients.
  • Be able to summarize sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills and trusts, in a succinct format based on specific information needed as posed by the ATLAS team, potentially with the assistance of AI.
  • Be able to quickly organize estate planning documents received from internal partners and identify potential gaps, following up for missing key information. Assess differences between spouses’ wills and revisable trusts and other trusts that may seem identical.

  • Experience with the US transfer tax system (e.g., federal and state gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax), exclusion and exemption amounts, gift tax returns. Understanding of how different US States’ estate taxes intersect with US federal estate taxes.
  • Ability to objectively review processes for optimal efficiency, risk control, and business integrity. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
