As the Director of Software Engineering on Capital One’s Card Tech team, you will oversee all aspects of Card Customer Data and develop a Role Management System for our credit card customers. You will manage APIs responsible for high-traffic, sensitive customer data reads and writes. Leveraging serverless technologies and event-driven systems at scale, you will create a robust User Role Management system. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

In this role, you will:

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers

• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team

• Work with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap and destination architecture

• Manage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet our customer needs

• Continuously improve software engineering practices

• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions

• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree

- At least 7 years’ experience in software development

- At least 5 years’ experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree

- 10+ years’ of experience in software development

- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Go Lang
- 5+ years’ of experience in Agile practices

- 4+ years of experience with AWS employing Multi-AZ and multi-region practices to solve for resiliency

- 2+ years experience with AWS Fargate, Lambdas and DynamoDb

- 2+ years of experience in building data applications that leverage distributed technologies (Spark, AWS Glue, Flink) to execute workflows
