Job Description

In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate closely with scientists to migrate their workflows from on-premises clusters to the cloud, while optimizing and tracking performance along the way.
You will be working with massive datasets in the petabyte range, tackling real-world challenges that drive scientific advancements.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Creating and managing AWS Cloud resources tailored to project requirements.
• Building and monitoring Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable computing processes.
• Operating within a Linux environment to maximize system performance and enhance operational efficiencies.
• Utilizing Data Tracking and Visualization tools to effectively track and provide insightful data visualizations.
• Supporting applications and a range of data science tools (including specialized chemistry software) to ensure we sustain a comprehensive suite of applications that meet our research needs.
• Employing multiple Data Transfer Solutions to facilitate efficient workflows and provide versatility in our data management processes.
• Documenting and effectively communicating both challenges and solutions throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring clarity and collaboration among team members.

Must-Have Skills:

• Demonstrated experience with Cloud platforms (AWS preferred, other Cloud platforms welcomed).
• Proficiency in Linux OS administration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages; SSH is advantageous, as many of our configuration files are formatted in YAML.
• Analytical Problem-Solving: We are looking for candidates with strong analytical problem-solving skills who can effectively work alongside cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with job schedulers and parallel processing methodologies.
• Knowledge of developing and deploying containerized applications using tools like Docker or Singularity.
• Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Experience with automation tools (such as CloudFormation, Ansible, or Terraform).
• Background in life sciences, particularly in fields like infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, or neuroscience.
• AWS DataSync is the primary tool we use; having a foundational understanding of storage concepts can be beneficial (though not mandatory).
