Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 2+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    • OR equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end CDR procurement process, including revising the CDR application questionnaire, identifying external scientific advisors, managing external diligence content and delivery timelines, and coordinating across a team of Microsoft CDR buyers.
  • Structure and negotiate diligence contracts with a bench of external advisors.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in open system CDR project diligence and procurement, e.g., enhanced rock weathering, soil organic carbon, and abiotic ocean CDR.
  • Solicit and review CDR proposals by working closely with external advisors to ensure scientific/technical integrity throughout the procurement process and with colleagues to confirm fit with overall portfolio strategy.
  • Structure and negotiate CDR purchase agreements for carbon credits that maximize upside and learning about scalability of new CDR pathways while minimizing risk of harm to local ecosystems, communities, and Microsoft.
  • Produce internal and external presentations on CDR projects, pathways, and markets.
  • Track and analyze relevant advancements in CDR science and policy, including innovations in measurement, risk management, and cost reduction. Assess the need to incorporate advancements in Microsoft diligence and procurement.
