Role Description
The Service Engineer services and performs diagnostic, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of a highly complex Cyclotron Particle Accelerator to deliver the best system performance and minimize disruption to hospitals and patients. The Service Engineer is responsible for the following:
- Provides servicing and maintenance of the cyclotron system and ancillary devices.
- Monitors system performance and resolves system issues.
- Performs in-depth system analysis for repairs and system optimization.
- Performs preventative maintenance per the site PM plan.
- Installs and upgrades a wide range of complex and advanced company products according to technical documentation.
- Able to work in a highly dynamic environment that requires the individual to work a rotating on-call shift, and be flexible for day, evening and weekend work depending on system requirements.
- Able to work in a team environment with little to no direct supervision.
- Training of staff in basic cyclotron operation.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, fault-finding skills.
- Electrical or electro-mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience or knowledge with the maintenance of systems such as pumps, electrical motors, pneumatics, and hydraulics etc.
- Experience with precision tools and diagnostic equipment’s (i.e. calipers, torque wrenches, DVMs, etc.)
- Willingness to work in a radiation-controlled environment.
- Willingness to work as part of a shift work pattern that includes a requirement to work some weekends.
- Basic plumbing experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams etc)
Other Skills (Not Required but Advantage):
- Experience or knowledge with High vacuum.
- Experience or knowledge with High Voltage.
- Experience or knowledge with Vacuum leak checks/detection.
- Experience or knowledge of RF.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical sector working to cGMP.
- Experience or knowledge of Radiation Safety.
- Experience with computer and LAN systems
Education/Experience:
- Degree in Physics or Electrical or Mechanical engineering or similar.
- Higher Technical qualifications with proven electrical/mechanical experience would be considered.
