Provide general legal advice with regard to the overall business activities of Citi Luxembourg and Citi Belgium (including fund services, lending, civil, commercial, corporate and data privacy law aspects);
Advise Citi Luxembourg and Citi Belgium on its duties and responsibilities in respect of these activities, in particular in relation to general banking, custody and fund services, credit structuring / implementation and related regulatory matters
Draft, amend, review, negotiate any types of agreements and documents in relation with the referred activities, including custody, depositary and service provider contracts relating to the marketing and international distribution of funds;
Actively participate in the legal and regulatory developments within Citi Luxembourg and Citi Belgium including the launch of new products in coordination with other departments (compliance, risks, product development)
Participate in meetings of external forums and working groups
Provide support to and work closely together with the Country Counsel on various matters to provide legal advice on the legal and regulatory issues which arise in relation to the overall business and organization of Citi Luxembourg and Citi Belgium.
Profile
University degree or equivalent in Luxembourg, Belgian or French law;
Full proficiency in English and French;
Experience in a (large) financial institution or a law firm in Luxembourg and/or Belgium;
Strong knowledge of Luxembourg's banking, legal and regulatory environment, and fund sector;
Robust knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of the financial sector in Luxembourg and Belgium;
Knowledge of the various regulated and unregulated fund vehicles available in Luxembourg and their different legal forms and experience in offshore funds services from Luxembourg;
Capacity to adequately and efficiently liaise and interact with internal partners (Business, Ops, Legal and Compliance, in Luxembourg, Belgium and abroad) and external stakeholders (mainly fund sponsors, fund directors, management companies and client lawyers) and national regulators and other authorities;
Excellent organization and coordination skills, combining attention to detail and an efficient overview of key questions and priorities;
Flexible, polyvalent and able to work on various legal subjects;
Strong writing and communication and interpersonal skills.
