Packing Technician/Machine Setter

The primary responsibility of the Packing Technician is to ensure product is packed to required standards to meet customer demand and that documentation is accurately maintained to cGMP standards. The operator may be required to work in other areas of the facility as schedule demands.
The role requires responsibly for all aspects of operation associated with vaccine packing in compliance with established operating procedures to vaccine is produced to required standards to meet customer demand in global markets.
The role requires a reasonable level of physical fitness. The technician primarily works on a semi-automated line, performing manual tasks. You will be working closely with other team members, so ability to get on well with others is essential.
Machine change overs, set up, and trouble shooting are an important part of the role. No formal qualification is required, and full training will be provided, but the technician must be comfortable with mechanical activities using basic tools like spanners, wrenches and gauges.
Being a highly regulated industry means that attention to detail and accurate completion of documentation is essential.
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
- Packing of vaccine, to required standards, according to set production schedules by:
- Operating equipment and performing tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Documenting all tasks in batch records, worksheets or logbooks in accordance with Good Documentation Practice
- Maintaining good housekeeping
- Performing machine set ups and change overs and performing trouble shooting
- Communicating clearly and in a timely way with other members of the Manufacturing Team and other departments to ensure the smooth flow of product, samples and documentation
- Minimise deviations in the manufacture of product by:
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures,
- Assisting with investigating and writing deviation investigations as required
- Review and update Standard Operating Procedures, batch records, worksheets etc to ensure GMP standards continue to be met in required timeframes
- Ensure the highest possible safety standards are met by: Participating in corporate and site safety programmes, taking responsibility for own and others safety, supporting the investigation and resolution of incidents and accidents in a timely manner, ensuring hazards are identified within the department, participating in safety meetings, complying with the company’s health and safety requirements
What You Must have
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical working experience in manufacturing/production environment or similar
- Mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) preferred
- Good (written & oral) communication skills in English
- Mathematical ability and confidence carrying out calculations
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as ability to develop good working relationships with team
- Excellent computer skills using Word, Spreadsheet and SAP
