If you have a passion for microbiology and a particular interest in electronic data evaluation this position may be perfect for you. As Senior Technician you will operate as a specialist in the field of phenotypic identification of microorganisms using images. The bioburden recoveries get acquired during product quality control and environmental monitoring of cleanrooms at production sites globally. You will assume independent responsibility for the administration, including resource planning of the global microID (microbial Identification), and carry out these identifications. Furthermore, you will be involved in processing these results through regular trend analyses and will generate global in-house strain lists. Based on these activities, you will lead the updating and maintenance of the microbiological reference database of a proprietary WEST program in a global team and support regular communication with an external identification laboratory. These tasks are predominantly digital and generally involve proactive communication of all task-relevant matters, ensuring their timely processing. Preparatory work is not required on a daily basis and makes the position therefore suitable for working hybrid.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organization and conduction of microbial identification based on phenotype to support the global laboratory organization including the use of the internal microID application and induction of program error corrections.
  • Administration of the communication with the contract laboratory conducting microbial identification by means of MALDI-TOF and DNA-Sequencing
  • Support implementation of the microID application in additional locations as needed.
  • Writing annual reports and performing frequent trend analysis based on release testing and clean room monitoring data, as well as their technical review.
  • Creation of global in-house strain lists.
  • Planning and tracking of assigned responsibilities in the context of the schedule, status and risks. This includes suggestions to minimize and mitigate risks.
Education
  • Successfully completed apprenticeship as technical assistant (BTA) or laboratory assistant/technician
Work Experience
  • First experience in a microbiological laboratory
  • Familiarity with cGMP compliant documentation
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Great interest in microbiology
  • Experience in and enjoyment of statistical data analysis
  • Confident handling of MS-Office and ideally SAP
  • Very good English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Confident communication and presentation in an international, global team as well as ability to engage in constructive and open discussions
  • High level of motivation, reliability, and sense of responsibility as well as a structures and independent way of working
  • Interest in changes and development and approaching challenges with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Interest in flexible daily routines and working hours
  • Willingness to travel for project-related purposes
