What you’ll be doing:
Invent algorithms for rapidly estimating voltage IR drop, timing, and power in CUDA as part of a suite of internal EDA tools for gate-level performance optimization.
Develop scalable cell current modeling techniques for detailed IR simulation on GPUs.
Research and develop strategies to more efficiently deploy EDA algorithms on GPUs, such as using compact approximations, lossy compression, and dynamic partitioning.
Collaborate with other developers to extend CUDA deployment into other VLSI domains, such as placement, routing, extraction, timing, logic simulation, SPICE, and DRCs.

What we need to see:
MS, PhD, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
12+ years’ experience, including extensive use of C++ and parallel computing.
Expertise with timing and power modeling techniques commonly used in VLSI, such as Liberty CCS (Composite Current Source) models, moment analysis, Bayesian networks, and frequency domain analysis.
Strong understanding of VLSI physical design, including power grids, IR drop, place and route, static timing analysis, and dynamic power calculation.
Experience with CUDA packages, especially NVIDIA’s cuDSS (CUDA Direct Sparse Solver) library, cuBLAS, and/or cuSPARSE.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Familiarity with industry standard power integrity tools, such as Ansys RedHawk/SeaHawk.
Background with machine learning for VLSI, especially use of GNNs (Graph Neural Networks) or PINNs (Physics-Informed Neural Networks).

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with knowledge in both Kubernetes as well as Go (Golang) to join our VCF Cluster Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading discussions, architecting solutions, and driving implementation of complex distributed systems to build and maintain scalable, cloud native infrastructure solutions. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our product development lifecycle.

Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a role focusing on distributed systems.
Distributed Systems Expertise: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts, technologies, and patterns (e.g., microservices, distributed databases, messaging queues, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models).
Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and their underlying infrastructure.
Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, C++).

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
The Monitor Group’s principal function is to maintain and develop the virtual CPU and memory aspects of the virtual machine platform that runs guest operating systems.
In the first 6 months, you will be expected to get up to speed with one of the specialization areas, such as new CPU feature enablement, x86_64 instruction set (ISA) virtualization, confidential computing, modernization of the monitor architecture, hardware accelerators, power-aware compute or aspects of guest timekeeping. By year 1 you would be expected to have impactful, core engineering contributions and enhancements in your area of specialization.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
This role requires you to possess a deep understanding of processor architecture and low-level OS kernel internals, system software including memory management, resource management, andinterrupt architecture. The principalprogramming language used is C, with assembly code used whenever needed to deal with machine-specific constructs.
You will work independently and as a member of a team of software engineers to design and deliver features in support of new processors or a proposed enhancement for the virtual machine monitor architecture. As an example, you might be involved in the design and implementation of upcoming CPU instruction set updates in avirtualization context. Similarly, youmay be assigned to contribute to an aspect ofmemory virtualization/management featuresas part of a monitor modernization effort.
