Automation Control Engineers are responsible for implementing equipment controls solutions for all cell manufacturing projects. This includes design, architecture and implementation of automated equipment such as automated storage systems, robotics, automated case and pallet conveyance, automated guided vehicles, fixtures, etc.  Controls Engineers own equipment controls standard, hardware programming, robot programming, commissioning and review process of the project as well as additional functions such as auditing, installation and safety assessment.
What You’ll Do
  • Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (B&R Automation Studio, Beckhoff TwinCAT and Siemens TIA Portal

  • Develop code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable

  • Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, fastening, welding, testing and material transport

  • Use Python scripting and SQL to interface equipment with Tesla Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and to collect data into production databases

  • Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using MappView/TwinCAT HMI and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition

  • Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation (Schneider, B&R, Beckhoff, Siemens, SEW)

  • Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards

  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing

  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven extensive expertise/experience with lithium-ion cells. This is likely to include at least 5 years but more likely 10+ years of experience dedicated in the field. Due to the breadth of this field, that could include any number of the following areas from an engineering and/or manufacturing perspective: Design (mechanical, chemical); Electrode; Cell Assembly (any format); Formation and Aging; Cell Test (qualification, reliability, abuse, etc.); and Failure Analysis
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions

We are looking for a Sr. Industrial Engineer / Data Engineer (5+ yrs. of experience) that will be focusing on providing automations and data solutions to Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering teams. This position involves designing and creating Data Models, developing Analytics and Reporting solutions. In this role, you will focus on enhancing the methodology for predicting future state machine behavior by leveraging data from existing Tesla manufacturing lines, while developing robust techniques to accurately attribute this data to future line models. You will conduct in-depth analyses of yield data at various levels of granularity—such as station and process levels—and devise methods to precisely apply these insights to future line models. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software tools to improve visibility and usability for the broader Tesla team, ensuring seamless integration and utility across projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Analyze and maintain yield, availability, and cycle time data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization
