What you'll do:

This is a hands-on position with exciting global exposure to an array of topics like scan auditing, commercial software, web services, license compliance, security, software release cycles, and production processes. What you bring:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree program, majoring in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• Knowledge of AI development methodologies and software lifecycle
• Experience in AI development, with proficiency in a major programming language such as Python
• Great interest in research tasks
• Familiarity with AI tools and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, LangChain, or PyTorch

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary legal contact within the APJ regional cluster of the Legal and Regulatory Network, driving the cluster to monitor, analyze, and dispatch priority actions on regulatory topics.

• Consolidate overall regulatory compliance activity within the Regional Field Legal team and report status to GRL Hub team.

• Cultivate a network of local Field Legal experts in the various jurisdictions within the applicable region.

• Initiate the legal analysis (either personally or through the extended Field Legal team) for any emerging and existing local regulations in the CCOM pipeline. Supporting the CCOM regulatory compliance practice and methodology at the local level.

• Identify matters for the CCOM pipeline, and help prioritize matters in such pipeline based on local needs.

• Provide input on regulatory compliance priorities as they affect the region.

• Drive decisions and support needs within the region for regulatory compliance related activities, in conjunction with the Regional General Counsel.

• Cascade relevant information and topics to the Regional Field Legal leadership team, the extended GRL team and related impacted teams, as required.

• Represent the local jurisdictional priorities and needs of the respective region/jurisdictions with the GRL and related programs.

• Work with appropriate local outside resources to help advise the GRL on specific regulatory topics.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Brings rich experience and strong expertise in regulatory compliance in one or more fields of regulations such as data protection, telecommunication, cybersecurity, export control, encryption, mandatory security certification/audit and law enforcement assistance laws.

• Good grasp of regional business models and regulatory landscape for Cloud, on-premise software and mobile app businesses.

• Has solid drafting skills with experience in writing up policies, standard agreements and public communications.

• Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills. Partners well with clients, maintaining frequent and open communication, to understand their business requirements and the impact regulations have or will have on the specific product and/or service.

• Has good project coordination skills. In particular, experience with product counseling, compliance projects and leadership in cross-functional teams is valued.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 2 to 5 years working in a legal role supporting regulatory compliance matters.

• Experience in cloud businesses regulatory affairs, governmental affairs and/or security is a plus.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from accredited law school; further technical degrees or certifications (e.g. from IAPP) is a plus.

The required legal advice will range across cloud, software licensing and consulting contracts, and general legal topics. You will act as a key contact for the relevant sales teams in the Market Unit, in particular providing legal advice on a wide variety of matters, including local laws and regulations, cybersecurity, intellectual property, licensing, data privacy, and license compliance matters.

The successful candidate will:

• Report to the Vice President, Deputy Regional General Counsel in EMEA.
• Be part of the Italian legal team and as part of the SAP Global Legal.
• Negotiate, both in Italian and English, complex commercial contracts with SAP customers and partners and provide trusted legal advice to SAP’s management ensuring that all contracts are in compliance with SAP’s legal, contractual and business processes and policies.
• Management of legal service providers using dedicated tools, associated reporting, and efficient management of legal costs
• Ensure that company business strategies are applied in recognition of legal implications and risks.
• Manage legal disputes, legal aspects of customer escalations, and interact with outside counsel as necessary.
• Contribute to the overall success of SAP’s business and be recognised as a business partner with an understanding of SAPs business objectives and cloud strategy.

What you bring:

• A qualified lawyer with excellent working knowledge of Contract and IT Laws with 2-5 years post admission experience in an accredited law firm.
• Strong autonomy and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team. They should be capable of independently identifying and resolving issues, while also collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
• Experience in corporate law (e.g., maintaining corporate books and extraordinary operations).
• Excellent communication, negotiation and drafting skills.
• IT and IP legal experience.
• Working knowledge of Data Privacy and Artificial Intelligent Laws.
• Experience in negotiating commercial contracts with customers/partners.
• Works well with the other lawyers who are expected to support and operate as a team.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and cope well with pressure (including quarter end pressures).
