You'll be a security pioneer, designing and scaling the core backend infrastructure for the Cortex Cloud Platform. • Your Mission : The Principal Impact
• As a technical leader, you'll be the driving force behind high-impact projects, moving them from initial concept to full-scale deployment
• Own the Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, resilient distributed systems
• Drive Execution: Serve as the project lead, aligning key stakeholders—from Product Management and UX to fellow engineering teams—to ensure seamless, timely delivery
• Cross-Functional Mastery: Act as a technical consultant and collaborator across team boundaries, proactively identifying and mitigating risks in design and execution
• Data at Scale: Design, build, and optimize data models and high-performance queries using cutting-edge technologies like MySQL and BigQuery to handle massive data throughput

What You'll Bring: The Core Experience

• You are a seasoned engineer who lives and breathes cloud-native development and is ready to step into a Principal role
• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with a heavy focus on developing cloud-native applications at scale
• Expert-level programming skills in at least one of: Python, Go, or Java
• Deep practical experience in distributed systems architecture and microservices
• Proven ability to build and deliver high-volume services, leveraging technologies like ElasticSearch, Pub/Sub, REST APIs, and Serverless computing
• Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and a "can-do" attitude when faced with complex, ambiguous problems
• A strong understanding of public cloud design considerations (security, networking, load balancing) and the limitations of building services at a global scale
• Experience acting as a hands-on tech lead or architect, making data-driven trade-off judgments

Salary Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $147000/YR - $237500/YR. Your Career

This role is located at our dynamic Santa Clara California headquarters campus.

Your Impact

• Conceptualize, Collaborate and Develop highly scalable cloud native Network Management System for managing devices and services at scale in hybrid deployments

• Lead and Design next-generation centralized device asset management architecture

• Build workflows to allow for easier onboarding of network devices and third party integrations

• Develop workflows that simplify the integration of network devices and third-party systems, as well as streamline the onboarding process for these components.

• Technical leadership and end-to-end delivery of solutions in collaboration with cross-functional product management, development and quality assurance teams in a fast paced environment

• Deliberate and build frameworks to improve quality of micro services

• Work with Devops and Technical Support teams to investigate and resolve critical customer defects

• Recruit and Mentor new team members

Your Experience

• MS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent or equivalent military experience

• 10+ years of experience in building large enterprise applications required

• Experience in technical leadership roles in building major cloud native apps or subsystems is a plus

• Proven ability to lead and collaborate with many cross-functional teams with an emphasis on end-to-end delivery

• Experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding - standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, peer review, and operations

• Excellent programming skills in Golang is a must

• Experience building data management solutions using transactional data stores or GraphDB with GraphQL API is preferred

• Strong fundamentals in object oriented design and development is a must - Experience with or familiarity of Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration is required

• Experience developing microservice based solutions on public cloud infrastructure is highly desirable
  Experience developing in Kubernetes based environments is a plus

• Knowledge of and experience building enterprise software with graph databases is highly desirable

• Experience building network and security configuration management systems is highly desirable
  Experience building appliance based network management solutions is highly desirable

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $147000 - $225,000/YR. Your Impact

• Establish yourself as a trusted advisor on Palo Alto Networks' SD-WAN products and capabilities, to prospects and customers, working with your Account Managers and the local partners within your territory

• Architect and propose validated solutions which address the identified SD-WAN and security problems in each individual environment

• Identify and document specific problems with prospective and current customers which can be solved through the deployment of integrated solutions

• Ensure ongoing customer happiness, support and adoption

• Pursue continuous self-improvement and learning to maintain technical leadership of applicable technologies (data center, SDN, public cloud, security, networking, etc.)

• Understand and effectively differentiate against our top competitors

• Act as the customer advocate for any issues that require technical assistance and follow-up with the customer through resolution

Your Experience

• 5+ years of relevant technical pre-sales experience (systems engineering, technical marketing engineering) within the networking field preferred

• Demonstrated technical capabilities in a combination of the following:

  • SD-WAN architectures/providers, LTE/5G

  • WAN technologies - MPLS, MetroE, Leased Lines, Broadband

  • Tunneling protocols - SSL/TLS, IPSec, GRE, DMVPN

  • IP Routing - BGP, OSPF, Static, Network Address Translation

  • Virtualization technologies - ESX, KVM, Xen, Microsoft preferred

  • Network security capabilities - IPS/IDS, Zone-Based Firewalls

• Ability to travel up to 50% as needed

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be between $198000 - $273000/YR.
