In this role, as a Senior Stream Designer you will reside within the NW Ecosystem Restoration Design and Landscape Architecture and Arborist Practice. You’ll lead projects providing expertise to clients to solve problems and meet multiple design objectives, while guiding teams to execute those tasks in a high-quality manner as a subject matter expert. You will work collaboratively between our NW Ecosystem Restoration, Science, and Planning department; our Water Resources and Conveyance department; and our Transportation department (among others) on multiple ecological restoration, fish passage, and irrigation projects.

Using your experience, you’ll be a technical lead, performing design oversight and coordinating the use of resources to accomplish quality deliverables and respond to client needs. In addition, you will lead teams consisting of stream design, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, fluvial geomorphology, and aquatic and wildlife biology staff to complete multi-discipline evaluations of streams, stream/roadway crossings, and watershed planning/analysis. You’ll lead managerial efforts for planning, design, and engineering services. Projects may include stream restoration, aquatic organism passage, wildlife passage, irrigation, floodplain management, watershed restoration, and design manual creation. Project roles may include: design engineer of record, quality control reviewer as subject matter expert, design manager over a portfolio of sub-projects; as design team, staff augmentation to owners, or as contractors design team.

Clients often include DOTs, Sound Transit, Cities, Counties, Districts at both a local level in Washington, nationally and potentially on a global scale supporting international projects. Agencies frequently engaged are Department of Fish and Wildlife, local tribal entities, and the Army Corps. Part of your role will be to build trust with clients as a seller-doer, to help with early, middle, and end game sales support. As a trusted partner external and internal to Jacobs, you will represent our One Jacobs capabilities to make sure we meet and exceed expectations.

Working with other members of our local and regional team, you’ll serve as a Design Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Manager leading a technical team, performing technical tasks, and coordinating the use of resources to accomplish multiple, concurrent water infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities may include planning and design related management as well as technical support roles for various types of conveyance systems, such as open channel flow and low-pressure conduit, flow control structures, and pump stations and force mains. Additional assignments will likely include other water-related civil infrastructure evaluations. You’ll lead and manage project teams throughout all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout; consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements stated in each contract. You’ll also play an integral role in leading and mentoring staff, forming long-term relationships with clients and pursuing new work, including strategy development, positioning, portfolio and client development, proposing, and negotiating contracts.

As Construction Inspector, you’ll have the chance to work on transportation projects that focus on bridge and other transportation structures during construction and maintenance alike. We will rely on you to view, measure, report and record the condition of transportation bridges and structures and its individual components. You’ll also be responsible for creating records and provide pictures. You could be working with a team of inspectors and engineers reviewing records, inspecting bridge and structure conditions, and following plans during construction to ensure proper procedures are followed.

This position will be a seasonal assignment based in Washington - Yakima, WA area estimation will be 6-9 months. - Compensation Rate: $30-$50 an hour (based on experience) - Overtime Eligible - Per-diem* (meals & lodging provided as necessary): up to 7 days a week based on WSDOT rates (tax free) As a project-specific employee (Seasonal), you are not eligible for severance pay under the Company's Severance Pay Plan and will not be paid severance pay at the termination of your project employment, irrespective of any prior severance-eligible service.
