Principal Consultant’s duties include (but are not limited to):

• Senior Technical Consultant on projects to provide for the highest quality of review of ecological field deliverables, T&E Species reviews, and local, state, and federal permitting packages.
• Permitting Lead for large, complicated projects or for projects with new clients
• Mentor and develop existing staff and advise on future permitting hires
• Project management, as needed
• Leadership in developing and maintaining procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with laws and regulations
• Maintaining highest quality of client interface
• Work with clients on existing and future Jacobs’ services, including helping to grow our permitting workload
• Work within internal teams to provide guidance for onshore and offshore renewable energy projects, FERC1000 services, and other developing external projects.
• Ability to travel occasionally to a client office, and travel to project sites (approximately 20% travel)

Your Impact

As aPrincipal Consultant, you will take an active role in permitting and siting projects for utility clients in the Eastern and Central US. In this role, you will be challenged to provide impeccable service to our clients through quality delivery of client work, and will work with the established siting team, project managers, client account managers, and senior technical resources to contribute to the growth of our utility client portfolio. You will provide technical leadership and play an important role in developing the skills and expertise of our delivery teams.

You will utilize your engineering background and creativity to address prevalent stormwater, tank, and wastewater compliance issues. You will help advance the industry by delivering sustainable solutions for clients and connect with Jacobs’ practitioners to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. We will lean on you to lead design, engineering, and project tasks, delegate work, and collaborate with engineers and design practitioners of varying experience levels. You will also mentor junior practitioners and learn from senior practitioners to grow professionally. We will rely on you to develop and maintain strong client relationships to drive business through proposals, networking, and sole source opportunities.
