About the role…

Super Duty / Expedition Kentucky Truck Plant Underbody(transmissions, driveline, steering, wheels, tires, suspension, brakes) Plant Vehicle Team Supervisor R&Rs are embedded in the following Ford processes and procedures:

• FAP03-005 Current Model Concern Prioritization & Resolution,
• FAP07-004 Corrective and Preventive Actions,
• FAP02-053 Variability Reduction Team Procedure,
• FAP03-109 Concern Reporting, Part Modification, and Product Changes (pertaining to SREAs),
• FAP03-134 Vehicle Stop Ship or Vehicle Stop Build for Quality Reasons, and GQIP Global Quality Improvement Process.

In this position...

• Provide engineering support for material flow process
• Review and approval of part packaging
• Design and/or develop material flow processes and equipment

What you'll do...

• Manage the flow of materials through the facility to support production flows within the production and warehousing operations
• Provide engineering support for material flow process; document standards and procedures, provide training, overall adherence and maintenance to ensure materials are available in designated stock, markets and line locations throughout the facility
• Work with Planning & Inventory Control, Production, Material Handlers, and Supply Chain to ensure robust policies are available and practiced and strive for continuous improvement
• Apply technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and limited job experience, in the development of material flow processes
• Design and/or develops material flow processes and equipment
• Recommend changes to increase safety, reduce costs, improve quality and optimize efficiency
• Participate in plant layout activities
• Develop floor space analyses to confirm storage requirements and recommend practical solutions where required
• Assist in qualifying manual and powered material handling equipment requirements
• Work to improve material flow and manage materials and inventory consistent with Lean principles
• Lay out market, sequencing, and kitting areas to facilitate material handling, process flow, space utilization, and labor
• Define and manages in-plant storage and call systems to maintain inventories; assists to define appropriate goals and metrics for proper material control
• Provide vehicle and pedestrian flow/congestion/safety analyses and recommend practical solutions where required
• Interact on a regular basis with other functional groups and vendors on technical and/or administrative matters
• Work with Production, Production Control, Supply Chain, Quality and other engineering departments
• Prepare detailed plans, generally spanning several months, vital to complete assigned projects
• Develop and approves schedule milestones
• Develop and coordinate labor, facility and equipment requirements for assigned projects
• Propose alternate plans for economic evaluation
• Administer technical procedures including process and work procedures
• Implement an industrial engineering system (standard cost data, capacity and equipment requirement forecasting, shop floor control system)

• The purpose of the fastening engineer is:
  • Lead global fastening tooling and standards to support future programs, campaign prevention, and reaction plans for Ford North America Final Assembly manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead program-specific fastening project and strategy during development phase of the program through sourcing and Purchase order issuance.
  • Execute overall fastening strategy, seeing it through to delivery -and- implementation
  • Define, maintain, and update fastening tooling standards
  • Assist in the development of and ensure full alignment on program costing

The PVT Supervisor and their team of Engineers are the 'first line of defense' regarding Functional system quality for the products produced at the assembly plant.. PVT Roles & Responsibilities are embedded in the Ford processes and procedures for Current Model Quality Concern Prioritization & Resolution, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Variability Reduction Team Procedures, Concern Reporting, Part Modification, and Product Changes, Vehicle Stop Ship/Stop Build, and Global Quality Improvement Process.
