We are looking for a hands-on Principal Engineer who is passionate about solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. As a Principal Engineer, you will leverage your deep technical knowledge to drive the creation of high-quality software products. The Principal Engineer will report to the Head of Enterprise Technology. There is an expectation to contribute to the codebase and deliver solutions against the sprint-level commitments.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years’ experience of implementing data-intensive solutions using agile methodologies.
• Proficient in one or more programming languages commonly used such asPython, Java, or Scala.
• Multiple years of experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer review, etc.)
• Strong proficiency in working with relational databases and using SQL for data querying, transformation, and manipulation.
• Clear understanding of Data Structures and Object Oriented Principles.
• Experience of modeling data for analytical consumers
• Ability to automate and streamline the build, test and deployment of data pipelines.
• Experience withHadoopfor data storage and processing is valuable, as is exposure to modern data platforms such asSnowflakeandDatabricks.
• Multiple years of experience architecting and building horizontally scalable, highly available, highly resilient, and low latency applications
• Multiple years of experience withCloud-native developmentand Container Orchestration tools (Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
• Proven experience of providing technical vision and guidance to a data team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with open-source data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g.Spark, Kafka,Beam, Flink, Trino, Airflow, DBT) is a valuable asset
• Exposure to a range of table and file formats including Iceberg,Hive, Avro, Parquet and JSON
• Experience in cloud native technologies and patterns (AWS, Google Cloud)

The Markets Supervisory Officer will be responsible for:

• Overseeing Investment Activities: Candidate will be responsible for providing oversight of various activities performed by the trade desks. Candidate must adept at working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Strong people skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to influence others is key. Strong product knowledge of Equity, Fixed Income, FX and structured products is required. Knowledge of Rates & other Derivatives a plus.
• Supervisory Oversight: Reviewing escalated surveillance issues, performing transaction surveillance, providing compliance/supervisory guidance to sales & trading teams, and maintaining and enhancing the control and supervisory culture.
• Regulatory Compliance: Monitoring regulatory developments, managing communications review and approval, and ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
• Key Activities:
  • Review and approval of brokerage and capital markets activities, including business affiliations, personal trading and outside business activities.
  • Managing, reviewing, and approving syndicate offerings including equity, fixed income and structured products.
  • Assist with oversight of trading systems, rules engines and platforms used by Wealth Markets traders
  • Direct engagement with trade error remediation, reporting, escalation, tracking & metrics
  • Participating in and leading calls on Capital Markets topics.
  • Monitoring continuing education and licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

• 6-8 years of related experience in application engineering'

• Strong hands on experience in JAVA REST Microservices Architecture, Multi-Threading, Spring, Containerization platform using Docker/Kubernetes, Oracle, and Big data Technologies

• Experienced in Python/Big Data, Spark and Ab Initio is a huge plus
