As the Solutions Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for setting the technical vision and strategy for the Japan partner organization Across market segment.

This includes, but is not limited to, identifying expertise to grow the team and facilitating key partnerships between customers, partners and internal organizations.   • Technology leadership: Technical vision and strategy for partners CTO/CXO priorities and based on industry direction and customer priorities
  • Team leadership: Define and drive a culture that will attract and retain the best system engineering talent in the industry. Coaching, mentoring, career pathing/development within and outside the direct team.
  • Partnership with sales leadership both inside the Specialists Organization and the direct/portfolio teams (Architecture Leadership, AVP, SED/SSEM, RM/SEM, AM/SE, etc.)

System Engineering Management Impact:

  • Establish and execute lightweight processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness to SE team.
  • Optimize organizational structure in partnership with Sales Leadership and align business priorities to improve bookings and minimize operational expenses.
  • Ensure execution of all engineering programs including technical sales process/closure, demand generation, and pipeline development.
  • Develop strategic engineering initiatives based on the priorities of the APJC / Japan partner organization
  • Engage BU, Architecture and Engineering stakeholders in influencing product direction and roadmap
  • Drive execution of New product launches and drive partner and customer mindshare

Your Impact

In addition to the above, the SE will perform the following functions:

  • Technology solution consultant to the customer and the Cisco account team.
  • Leverage an array of Cisco technology, services, and support specialists.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Manager on account planning activities.
  • Educate the customer on Cisco differentiation, creating demand.
  • Set brand preference to Cisco.
  • Align Cisco’s product and services capabilities to customers business drivers.
  • You are self-driven and have a long history in the Networking field.
  • You will also have a strong background in large enterprises and/or large service provider IT accounts and understand how to engage new lines of business to drive understanding and preference to Cisco's Routing & Switching, Data Center, Security, and Internet of Things solutions.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in the pre-sales engineering industry with a focus on Cisco's or a competitors Enterprise Routing & Switching, Data Center and Security solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of large IT environments and applications.
  • Deep understanding and operational experience with a routed and switched data/voice network.
  • Strong business acumen and customer presence.
  • Experience and comfort conversing with network and telecommunications managers as well as customer lines of business on Data Center, Security, and Retail solutions.
  • As a Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving customer activities and discussions that lead to preference of Cisco's Routing & Switching, Data Center, Security, and Automation solutions.
  • The focus of this position is to uncover business benefits for a customer by consulting on Cisco solutions and applications to solve business problems, working with cross-functional teams to design and present appropriate technical solution, and building joint plan of record for multiple engineering systems using Cisco products.
  • You'll plan sales strategy, develop proposals, deliver customer presentations and demonstrations to close business and generate revenue.
  • While customer facing engagements will be the primary role, other duties will include training colleagues on Data Center, Virtualization and MOCA topics and practices. Developing best practices in sales approaches and technical execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of computing industry related experience.
  • Cisco product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis required.
  • Expert of professional level Cisco certifications or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cisco's Solutions, networking fundamentals required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pre-Sales experience preferred.

Who You Will Work With?

Your role is people, data, and communications intensive; it requires excellent leadership, critical thinking, independence, organizational, data analysis and communication skills, and managing by influence.

10+ years in technology industry in a strategy & operations role or in a senior role in management consulting in the technology space.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English; strong presentation skills and executive presence, with the ability to address and influence both executive and mid-level management.

Management Consulting experience from a top strategy consultancy is preferred

Strategic and innovative with an external awareness to adapt to market transitions and understand the nuances of selling complex solutions.

MBA from a top school is preferred

Industry experience in technology, particularly in SaaS and Cloud, is preferred

What you will do:

  • Hire, coach, and develop a team of Solutions Engineers to deliver against our sales goals and build strong internal and external relationships in service of an outstanding customer experience and continued rapid growth
  • Drive the strategy and executive relationship for Cisco’s largest accounts, and channel partners across Japan.
  • Bring together all Cisco Collaboration cross-functional teams in the region to build a “regional team” culture and shared vision
  • Work collaboratively to establish an Japan focused strategy and priorities, and ensure all teams are working together to maximize results (field, channel, solutions engineering, marketing, strategy, Cisco sales segment leaders, etc.).
  • Be the segment executive sponsor in establishing strong working relationships with Cisco leaders across the region: ensuring Cisco Collaboration is appropriately prioritized, gaining support for marketing and channel investments, and optimizing our joint GTM approach to drive growth
  • Represent the Japan theatre in providing a unified voice back to HQ around priorities, investment needs (product, marketing, operations, etc.), and strategy (including sales team structure, rules of engagement, headcount investment, etc.)
