We are seeking an associate wetland scientist to support our clients in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll participate on projects to help support our clients to adapt and thrive in the face of current and future global sustainability challenges. Your work and contribution may include project siting, permitting, construction, and maintenance. Your contributions will be key to realizing safer infrastructure operations, healthier communities, and protection of our world’s natural resources.

Aligned to one of our Pacific Northwest offices, this is an opportunity to act as a technical resource specialist in the fields of wetland ecology, aquatic resource delineation, permitting, mitigation, and regulatory compliance. You’ll apply your technical experience on projects related to linear infrastructure and energy, renewable energy and transportation projects. Our global and local teams provide you with the tools to keep your career growing.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to assemble regulatory compliant environmental plans, reports, and permit applications. This includes permitting at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Performing field surveys and assessments, including wetland delineations, stream surveys, other biological surveys following state and federal protocols, and preparing associated technical reports.
  • Assisting with the preparation of environmental documents for compliance with the NEPA and other federal, state, or local regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agency staff to discuss and negotiate project impacts, permitting requirements, and mitigation strategies.
  • Preparing scopes of work and estimating level of effort for task completion.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with diverse project teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.

Aligned to our Portland, Oregon or Bellevue, Washington office, you’ll participate on projects to help support our clients to adapt and thrive in the face of current and future global sustainability challenges. Your work and contribution may include siting, permitting, construction, maintenance, and federal projects. You'll participate in a combination of field and office work and receive mentorship from our team’s technical experts in evaluating and minimizing project effects on natural resources. You'll be expected to work both independently, as well as part of project teams. As you progress, your growth and increase in responsibility will be recognized and rewarded with commensurate changes in level and compensation.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Your impact

The Senior Interior Designer shall provide project planning support, quality assurance oversight, day-to-day oversight and management, and direct technical support in a management capacity to support facilities projects including, but not limited to, construction, design/build, architecture and engineering, space management, facilities management, real estate, and leasing of large and complex construction projects. The Senior Interior Designer shall participate in the design and construction processes and shall have general oversight during mobilization, site preparation, construction, fit-out, commissioning and occupancy.

General responsibilities include:

  • Perform as a consultant in the establishment of space and furniture design standards and criteria for construction projects. Assist in the development of the client’s POR.
  • Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements. Provide recommendations based on observations.
  • Prepare space and stacking plans to accommodate functionality, mission, and adjacency requirements.
  • Prepare blocking plans, schematic and conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD. Ensure drawings comply with the Bureau’s Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards.
  • Perform design reviews and submit technical comments in required format.
  • Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post-occupancy. Includes building and maintaining relationships with end user, local team, subject matter experts, program managers, service providers, etc.
  • Assist with the development of furniture selection, layout, and procurement planning.
  • Review furniture proposals, documents, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and ability to meet Bureau requirements. Provide comments and/or recommendations as necessary.
  • Participate in punch list walk-throughs of newly constructed/renovated space to ensure the space is ready to accept furniture delivery and installation.
  • Provide support in the development of workspace standards, including designing spaces that will positively affect the health, morale, and productivity of building occupants.
  • Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and federal agency clients.
Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.
