Our bodies and environment all depend on water, it is the building block that supports all life. Water issues are becoming increasingly prominent as we struggle with disparity between water availability and demands, water pollution, and competition for limited water resources.

In this role you will be responsible for providing excellent consultancy, design and engineering services in the Northern Australia portfolio - Cairns, Darwin and Townsville – as well as to the wider Jacobs business across Australia and New Zealand. You will collaborate with commercial, project management and technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects within the water infrastructure and associated markets. You will manage projects to make sure they are delivered on time, on budget and to client satisfaction.#JacobsWaterANZ

Your impact

In this role you will play a key role in the continued development of our integrated catchment-based solutions team helping Jacobs ensure we become the market leading convenor and integrator in this sector.

As a seasoned practioner in the water industry you will utilise your experience to design and deliver bespoke solutions across the flood risk management and the national environment programme (water resources, environmental quality and nature recovery). You will develop innovative enablers such as appraisal, funding and finance, modelling, optimisation, strategy and digital delivery, creating a strategic and operational vision that unlocks opportunities across the markets.

Remit of the role will include:

  • Foster collaboration with and between clients and partners to create pioneering, system-scale and place-based solutions.
  • Develop and integrate tools and processes across a wide variety of specialist technical functions.
  • Identify and create shared value, through awareness of co-funding, supporting the co-creation of solutions.
  • Contribute to project delivery across a wider portfolio of sectors.
  • Provide high quality advice as a subject matter expert for a variety of infrastructure projects.
  • Take a lead role is bids and proposals.
  • Partner with industry to fully understand long term strategies required to ensure our capability footprint and solutions exceed expectations.

Key duties:

  • Management and technical supervision of a team of modellers
  • Implementation of industry standards and development of innovative solutions.
  • Building and verifying network models
  • Optioneering and solutions development of flooding and cso drivers
  • Using network models for planning, operational and design purposes
  • Management of model maintenance, development impact assessments and solutions delivery streams.
  • Supervision of report writing, check and review of modelling outputs.
  • Experience with infoworks icm, infoasset manager and other modelling software.
  • Running modelling and design projects as the leader of a team
  • Interacting directly with various personnel in our client’s organisations, including face to face progress meetings.
  • Investigation and resolution of network issues.
  • Building and maintaining hydraulic models
  • Delivery of technical reports and hydraulic modelling studies
