Controls Engineering Specialist

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.

In this position...

What you'll do...

  • Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated. Determine proper validation methods
  • Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers
  • Utilize sound knowledge design and implement vision control systems. Familiar with different type of vision cameras and their programing software. Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment, review and follow up project installations
  • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements
  • Update program backups for machinery and automation
  • Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots
  • As part of a team, review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, Auto CAD
  • Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks
  • Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc images and installation of communication and firmware and controls software
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

You'll have...

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)
  • Ability to work AWS work schedule

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred
  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC Robots
  • Solid understanding of laser burning
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics and use AutoCAD
  • Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
  • Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry
  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet and remote IO
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods
  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred

Engineering Specialist – Incoming Quality

In this position...

Will support the Incoming Quality department by analyzing and diagnosing complex component problems that arise during automotive assembly, EOL testing or Surveillance calls.

What you'll do...

  • Will thoroughly analyze all possible fixes when approaching problems
  • Will conduct deep dives into solving and verifying root causes, including electrical testing, dimensional analysis, mechanical testing, etc. on supplier parts
  • Will compare components against engineering drawings and/or CAD to understand if supplier parts meet engineering specifications
  • Will Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams, including Production (Salaried & hourly), VRTs, PVT, STA, Quality Engineers, QOSCs, SPCs, and suppliers.
  • Will cover for IQ Process Coaches occasionally (i.e. vacation coverage).

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 2+ years of Engineering/Manufacturing experience; experience in Quality processes is highly desirable
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Automotive and/or manufacturing background
  • Understanding of internal OIS sheets to confirm correct assembly processes are being followed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and have ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven critical thinker and troubleshooter to deliver industry leading quality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to build strong, professional relationships
  • Candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule (including RDOs) when significant quality issues emerge.
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate FORD behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • ASE Master Technician - Engine Performance & Electrical
  • Hands-on experience tearing down suspect Electrical and Mechanical components and validating root cause(s)
  • Hands-on experience with measuring / test equipment
