Service Delivery Center – Financial Services Organization – A&A - Real Estate Fund Accounting

We are seeking a motivated Analyst to join our Service Delivery Center (SDC) Fund Accounting and Administration practice in Real Estate Fund Accounting. In this role, you will provide essential financial and management accounting support for real estate funds and help our clients meet regulatory, tax, and financial statement reporting requirements through our proprietary EY-developed technology platform. Additionally, you will help contribute to the development of junior team members.

Your key responsibilities

  • Understand the intricacies of Real Estate fund operations and financial statement reporting
  • Perform critical accounting activities, including capital calls, valuations, and transaction processing
  • Collaborate with team members to gather and organize client data for reporting purposes
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reporting packages
  • Be part of defining new procedures and controls to enhance the overall operational risk process
  • Contribute to the technical development of the team by sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Seek feedback and guidance from team leadership to enhance personal and team performance
  • Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and budget
  • Assist with managing risks and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes
  • Stay current on business and industry trends relevant to our clients, including the latest Real Estate fund structures and investment record keeping standards

  • Understanding of processes and ability to execute detailed procedures based on knowledge of fund controllership, investment books and records, and/or financial statement processes, and regulatory filing principles
  • Knowledge of Real Estate fund characteristics and the application of regulatory and financial reporting rules to those investments
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deliver client requirements in a regulatory-driven environment, process improvements, and understand operationally complex fund accounting principles
  • Ability to develop relationships with team members across multiple geographic locations and time zones

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in tax and/or accounting, preferably with a focus on Real Estate funds
  • Analytical skills, especially an understanding of transaction posting, and investment trial balance debits and credits related to fund controllership, investment books and records and asset management
  • Strong proven communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn firm-specific technologies
  • An interest in working in an environment which encourages continuous learning, development and identification of opportunities for improvement of individual and team performance

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • CFA/ CPA (candidate)
  • Effective project management, and organizational skills
  • Experience working alongside colleagues at all levels of business
  • Strong interest in regulatory reporting requirements or financial statement reporting
  • Experience related to fund accounting, including the ability to conduct technical review and interpretation of SEC rules, regulations, FAQs
  • Experience with software tools including document management systems, workflow systems, partnership accounting, investment accounting such as Yardi, eFront, Investran, or other investment sub-ledger software

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $50,200 to $102,500. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $60,200 to $116,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
