Your future role:

In this role, you will join the Engineering team. You will be working closely together with product and program managers, developers and architects of all SaaS Platforms and be a key contributor in a large organization that is responsible for the engineering and evolution of SAP Sovereign Cloud's product portfolio. You will have the opportunity to solve the complex challenges of scale and security which are unique to SAP Sovereign Cloud, while using your ability in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. You will engage closely with the SAP Sovereign Cloud Operations, Platform, and Application engineering teams and jointly help to ensure that relevant SAP product development teams can execute against their requirements backlog derived from government security control frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for defining and implementing the build, deployment and monitoring standards for customers
• Drive the innovations and build tool sets for local cloud delivery and operations team.
• Be part of Agile development teams to deliver an end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in a cloud environment;
• Create scripts and/or templates to automate and/or bootstrap infrastructure provisioning and management tasks;
• Work closely with SAP Lob and Local cloud delivery and operations team to create an automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) system;

• Extensive Cloud Expertise : Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure including services like Azure DevOps, AKS, AVD, Azure Functions, App Services, Virtual Networks, and Storage .
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Proficiency in Terraform and ARM templates to automate cloud infrastructure deployment.
• CI/CD Mastery : Expertise in setting up, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins , ensuring smooth and automated deployments.
• Kubernetes & Containerization : Strong understanding of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) , Docker , and Helm charts , with experience in orchestrating containerized applications.
• Security & Compliance : Solid grasp of Azure Security best practices, RBAC, IAM, networking security (NSGs, ASGs), and governance policies to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
• Monitoring & Logging : Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and Prometheus/Grafana for observability and performance monitoring.
• Scripting & Automation : Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, and Python , along with automation frameworks like Ansible .
• Collaboration & Problem-Solving : Ability to work closely with development, security, and operations teams, applying DevOps methodologies to streamline processes and enhance system reliability.
• Performance Optimization : Expertise in tuning cloud applications for cost efficiency, scalability, and high availability , leveraging Azure Autoscaling, Load Balancers, and Traffic Manager .
• Due to the potentially classified nature of our work, you might required to subject yourself to a governmental security clearance process ( )

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure Hyperscale/DevOps.
• Over 10 years of experience in DevOps roles, driving automation, scalability, and operational excellence.

Lenght of internship: 6 months

• Studentincomputer science, informatics, business informatics or related areas(current student status is mandatory)

• Strong interest (experience) in Kubernetes
• Interest in surrounding deployment technologies (such as Helm and Kustomize)

• Interest or educational experience in one or more programming languages, preferably Python or Golang

• Strong interest in cloud-native software development and operation

• Good language skills in English

You will be part of the team responsible for establishing and managing holistic frameworks for compliance, risk management and certification governance of SAP Datacenters, both own and co-locations, with tasks like:

• Develop and implement a compliance framework to ensure datacenter operations adhere to German regulatory requirements such as BSI-Grundschutz, IT-Sicherheitsgesetz (IT-SiG), KRITIS, and other applicable local laws
• Lead efforts to achieve and maintain key datacenter-related certifications, including BSI C5, ISO 27001, EN 50600, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, SOC 1, SOC 2, C5 and KRITIS, certifications.
• Depends on the need, act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies such as BSI (Federal Office for Information Security), TÜV, and other compliance authorities for datacenter-related requirements
• Ensure datacenters meet mandated security standards for physical infrastructure, personnel access control, and visitor management as required by German regulators
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to datacenter operations, ensuring adherence to government security frameworks and industry best practices
• Define internal policies and provide training to datacenter teams to ensure compliance awareness and operational alignment with German regulatory expectations
• Datacenter facilities and service providers comply with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements for operating cloud infrastructure
• Support or drive on on-going projects and programs

What you bring

• Master’s/bachelor’s degree in computer science, or similar with focus on information security and cloud compliance or a computer degree and related work experience in information security and cloud compliance
• 10+ years working experience with DC infrastructure, its certification and compliance
• Experience creating processes including workflows design, work descriptions and documentation
• Experience in establishing a compliance management system and compliance frameworks
• Experience with mentoring individuals on compliance, DC infrastructure, and DC operational issues
• Knowledge about information security, compliance standards ISO 27001, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, SOC 1, SOC 2, C5, KRITIS
• Experience in project management is an advantage
• Experience in auditing is an advantage
• Proficiency in English and German
• Experience working in a global and dynamic environment
