As a Vice President within the Asset Management Independent Risk function, you will be at the forefront of responsible growth, playing a crucial role in helping the firm understand, manage, and anticipate risks in a constantly changing environment. You will operate at a seasoned VP level, leading complex initiatives and influencing decision-making across the team. As the primary business engagement point for US Fixed Income strategies, including High-Yield Corporate Credit, Municipal Markets, and Retail Separately Managed Accounts (SMA), you will leverage your deep understanding of markets and portfolio behavior to guide decisions that balance fiduciary responsibility, client outcomes, and innovation. Your responsibilities will encompass oversight in areas such as investment, liquidity, and counterparty risks, assessed through risk sensitivities, valuation, stress tests, and ad-hoc deep-dive analysis. This role demands a profound understanding of Fixed Income markets, products, and associated risks, along with the ability to lead a team and contribute to our global agenda. Your efforts will support our goal of maintaining strong controls and managing risks effectively.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the development and enhancement of risk oversight and governance structures, ensuring robust control, monitoring, and measuring of risks cross the organization.
  • Lead the analysis of market events and macroeconomic trends, evaluating their potential impact on the fixed income portfolios.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for communicating risk insights and recommendations to senior management, boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including portfolio managers, investment directors, and external partners, to facilitate effective collaboration in risk management.
  • Collaborate with other risk management teams within the firm to ensure consistency and alignment of risk practices and strategies where appropriate.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing risk management team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the adoption of innovative risk management practices to align ourselves with the long-term vision of the organization, focusing on how we envision our work in the years to come, rather than addressing immediate challenges.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • A minimum of 7 years of direct experience in Fixed Income Market Risk Coverage, Portfolio Management, Trading, and/or Investment Risk.
  • Proven ability to navigate and manage complex, ambiguous situations effectively.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with business partners and present insights to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.

As an Administrative Assistant in the JSE Sponsor and Investment Banking team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to senior bankers and the team. Your role is crucial in ensuring smooth operations, facilitating effective communication with clients and regulatory bodies, and providing support to the investment banking team. Working in a dynamic environment, you will manage multiple priorities with precision and professionalism.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Disseminate regulatory announcements on the JSE SENS system in the required format.
  • Distribute JSE communications to clients and facilitate regular updates, meetings or calls.
  • Review and submit periodic reporting documents to the JSE, including financial reports, compliance certificates, and AGM notices.
  • Obtain approvals from the Takeover Regulation Panel and submit necessary forms, where applicable.
  • Coordinate communication between clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
  • Monitor and track deadlines for compliance filings and other critical sponsor activities.
  • Assist with client-related administrative duties, including billing, onboarding, and KYC clearance.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to senior executives and the JSE Sponsor team, including managing complex calendars, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel itineraries, and preparing presentations and reports while ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Maintain and update databases, records, and files to ensure data integrity and confidentiality, and process expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies and timely reimbursement.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Education and Experience: Post-Matric diploma or equivalent required; Experience in an administrative or support role, ideally within the financial services or legal sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding and familiarity with JSE regulations and compliance processes.
  • Professional Skills: High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, effectively as part of a team, and build relationships with regulators.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, written, verbal and time-management skills as well as the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Expense Management – process and track Concur expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies.
