Job Purpose

ICE Clear Europeโ€™s Clearing Risk Department (โ€œCRDโ€) is looking for a front office risk manager. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior management in overseeing and shaping the risk management practice at one of the largest futures and options clearing houses in the world. You will be joining a very dynamic team, be exposed to a wide range of asset classes and be challenged with complex risk problems. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day risk management and drive improvement and enhancements, including identifying, developing and overseeing the implementation of new risk management tools and techniques to enhance the risk management process and risk controls. You will also contribute towards the design and implementation of new risk initiatives and products that benefit the business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas where the risk models, risk management processes, or infrastructure can be improved

Knowledge and Experience

  • Masterโ€™s Degree in Mathematical Finance or equivalent degree
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance trade-offs
  • Must have demonstratable experience in a role of the same or equivalent level and/or relevant professional experience in risk management and/or risk systems. At least some of this experience will have been gained in an investment bank, hedge fund or clearing house
  • Strong knowledge in financial derivatives products in one or more asset classes (e.g. oil, power, gas, interest rates, equity, softs)
  • Proven ability to apply risk management models and techniques such as Value at Risk models, Liquidity Risk models, backtesting and stress testing models

Job Purpose

The Risk Manager is part of the Risk Oversight Department within the second line of defence with specific responsibilities within ICEU. The candidate will be a key part of the team executing ICEUโ€™s risk framework, covering all the risks faced by the clearing house, working closely with all business lines and providing analysis and information directly to the senior management team and Board. The responsibilities include; oversight of the day-to-day financial and enterprise and non-financial risk activities.

The second line of defence risk function provides the framework for identifying, assessing and ensuring appropriate transparency across the Enterprise Risk Register.

Responsibilities

Risk identification, management, monitoring, reporting:

  • Assist in the management of ICEUโ€™s risk appetite framework, or specific aspects of it, including setting of risk appetite statements and limits in relation to clearing house Market, Liquidity, Credit and Operational Risks.
  • Risk identification on an ongoing basis, including providing views on new risks.
  • Assisting 1LOD in completing risk register assessments, inclusive of review and challenge.
  • Assisting 1LOD in maintaining the control inventory, inclusive of review, challenge and independent monitoring.
  • Reviewing and challenging the first line functions in their incident investigations
  • Providing input to relevant policies and procedures, including challenge to the policies of the first line functions relating to risk
  • Providing any ad hoc support or assistance to other roles across the Risk Oversight Department as deemed necessary by managers

Risk measurement methodologies, analytics and models:

  • Performing any necessary qualitative or quantitative assessment of risk and challenge to the regular risk measurement and assessment responsibility of the first line functions.
  • Identification, development and implementation of new risk metrics and risk reporting
  • Supporting the provision of regular review and challenge to first line risk management, escalating any major risks and concerns in a timely manner.

Risk reporting and communications:

  • Maintaining industry awareness, best practice insight and regulatory knowledge with regards to risk management.
  • Oversight of production of daily and periodic risk reports/dashboards to Executive Management and Board Committees pertaining to Clearing house risks

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s, Masterโ€™s or other advanced degree in finance or quantitative related discipline
  • Experience in financial services risk management or another assurance or analytical role
  • Broad understanding of all risk types, with specific experience of financial risk or enterprise risk / non-financial risk frameworks valuable
  • Broad understanding of market risk measurement; VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis.
  • Knowledge of the financial markets, financial market infrastructure and regulatory environment

  • Support issue validation and compilation of management reporting decks.

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role is to support the settlement and delivery processes and procedures of ICE Clear Europe for Energy, Financial and Soft Commodity products, which includes but is not limited to Physical Oil, Natural Gas, Power, Emissions, Equities, Bonds, Cocoa, Coffee, Sugar and Wheat. Support will also be given to the day to day clearing operational activities, which includes the coverage of shift patterns between 09:00 and 19:30 London time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in relation to settlement and delivery of ICE products, including all expiry events, such as Futures Notice Days and Option expiries;
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the expiration and delivery process, to ensure timely and accurate publication of information to Clearing Members;
  • Monitoring the smooth functioning of all relevant systems;
  • Deal with and process ad-hoc adjustments where necessary (cash adjustments, trade corrections etc.);
  • Deal with Clearing Member/customer queries and assist them in their understanding of ICE delivery processes;
  • Ensure that the Clearing House daily processes run smoothly (e.g. product expiry events, intraday margin calls, position transfers, corporate actions);
  • Liaise with members to understand their use of ICEโ€™s clearing systems and help them optimise their usage;
  • As the Clearing House and ICE group are continually growing, the right candidate may also be required to support Operations management in any relevant projects and initiatives, ranging from process improvements to new products and services;
  • Provide support for the processing of all day to day clearing operational activities;
  • Manage operational incidents, where relevant, and ensure appropriate escalation within the wider Operations team;
  • Actively contribute to the writing and reviewing of Operational procedures where required.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Educated to at least โ€˜Aโ€™ Level standard or equivalent;
  • Experience in ETD clearing services, ideally at a Clearing Member;
  • Experience and understanding of ETD settlements and deliveries from a Clearing Member perspective;
  • Knowledge of expiry events within a clearing environment and understanding of the margining process;
  • The ability to investigate/contribute to operational issues and their resolution with appropriate escalation;
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and retain a positive attitude when dealing with Clearing Members and their customers;
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail is vital;
