Systems Engineering concentrates on the precise specification of system structure and behaviours in order to satisfy customer requirements. The role of the Systems Project Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including, system concept development, design, build, qualification, certification, and in-service support. In addition to being a key customer contact, the Systems Project Engineer may be required to lead global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer’s system requirements.

The Role

· The Systems Project Engineer will be responsible to the Yeovil Systems Engineering Manager.

· The Systems Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of the system and its products to the customer requirement documentation. Experience in the use of DOORS / DOORS NG as a requirement’s capture software would be useful.

· The role includes responsibility for the complete ECS system life cycle: systems requirements capture and management, systems design, support to systems modelling and performance testing. Interpretation of system test results and problem-solving skills are required.

· Responsibility for defining the system level requirements includes requirements allocation to electronic controls and component level requirements

· Reporting of system design / development status to internal and external customers.

· The Systems Project Engineer will liaise closely with programme management, design and development engineers, manufacturing and customers as and when necessary.

· The Systems Project Engineer will be expected to work both independently and within a cross-functional team environment. Support is available from areas of expertise and experience when required.

Qualifications & Experience

· An engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering is required. Knowledge of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic theory and practice would be useful. Specific experience of working with air management systems would be useful. However, other relevant systems experience would also be taken into account and assessed on merit.

· An additional knowledge or experience of ‘Vapour Cycle System’ (VCS) technology and product design would be useful.

· A good grounding and experience of engineering practices, design and practical applications would be useful.

Key Responsibilities

• Realize strategic objectives, budgets and overall result, and develop plans to achieve revenue growth and increased financial profitability in coordination with the Country Manager.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Experience of electronic access control systems, BMS, energy management systems or information technology in Hospitality would be ideal.
• Solid demonstrable experience in commercial departments within the hospitality sector.
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Full professional proficiency in English.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology or similar.

Experience in materials design/selection and working experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge and particular interest in Elastomers/Rubbers.

Experience working with specialist materials and products as this will be working on aerospace products with safety critical elements attached.

Ability to communicate clearly & concisely on complex technical matters to various levels in the organisation.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, and motivated individual to join our site in Yeovil as a Design Engineer. The appointed individual will need to be able to support the development of concept designs including supporting analysis, with a keen awareness of manufacturing methodologies and a mind on cost. Additionally, the role will also require detail design work and processing of engineering changes. Working as part of the design team, the Design Engineer has the overall responsibility for the concept and detailed design of new products and assembly tooling, together with all drawings and associated project documentation. You will be working on complex aerospace engineering projects across a variety of remits including Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Life Support Systems (LSS).

Principal responsibilities will be to:

· Produce detailed design/layouts to meet customer requirement and specification.

· Support detailed estimates at the request of project leaders as a contribution to product development proposals.

· Ensure that ‘Design for Six Sigma’ principles are observed throughout all phases of the design process and apply data rational analysis to arrive at robust solutions

· Check design feasibility by performing design, stress and performance calculations using 3D CAD, finite element and traditional analysis methods.

· Work in accordance with procedures and design standards and to contribute to developing best working practices.

· Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation. This will involve prototype and production details and assembly drawings and associated tolerance analyses.

· To liaise with production engineering and production planning in order to achieve a design/detail package best suited to production and to be aware of changes in manufacturing technology.

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:

· Change oriented and able to develop innovative solutions in a fluid team environment

· Customer aware and a strong results focused work ethic

· Desirable to have 2-5 years’ experience of CAD, ideally in the field of precision components. Recent graduates will be considered.

· Basic understanding of configuration control

· Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

· Knowledge of six sigma and lean would be an advantage

· Knowledge of machining and other manufacturing techniques advantageous

· Ability to work in a flexible environment and stretch themselves beyond their comfort zone
