Tax Accounting & Reporting

Your key responsibilities

This position is a leading role in managing the compliance portfolio for all global, regional, and country-based assets and systems. As a compliance consultant dedicated to the EY Service Line and function, you will be both an individual contributor capable of supporting multiple projects and lead a team of compliance specialists focused on improving the risk posture of the Service Line or function. In other words, it is not just an oversight role, but one that requires detailed understanding of the Service Line, business drivers, key risks and issues, and can help strategize on risk reduction strategies based on analysis of compliance data and trends.

You will lead a team focusing on these pillars:

  • Risk Management and Reduction: Take ownership of the Portfolio or Service Line of security risk and compliance, engaging directly with key EY leaders to reduce risks by providing insights on top risks impacting the security posture of the businesses. Engage in compliance and risk-based investment planning to mitigate these risks effectively.

  • Trend Identification and Remediation: Identify security risk trends and themes that require a comprehensive approach to remediation. Lead and spearhead these efforts, ensuring that risks are mitigated in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Proactive Security Initiatives: Proactively seeking out and identifying security risks, weaknesses, and potential vulnerabilities in systems and processes before they can be exploited and independently stand-up initiatives to address them. Improve compliance with security standards and policies though continuous improvement and innovation in security practices.

  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Management: Manage the end-to-end workflow of security compliance of risk findings in our Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool to ensure continuity and compliance with security policies, standards and regulations.

  • Define compliance strategies and remediation recommendations that provide pragmatic security guidance that balance business benefit and risks.

Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) – Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting CoE

Join our fast-growing Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting CoE as a Manager. You’ll support multi-country client engagements in tax accounting and direct tax, providing Group Tax Accounting/Reporting services under US GAAP and IFRS. In this role, you’ll contribute to process improvement and help redesign how we deliver tax compliance and reporting, ensuring efficient, high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Support the preparation and review of interim, quarterly, and year-end global tax provisions under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Assist with tax reporting deliverables from controllers and tax managers across the Group
  • Contribute to US GAAP and IFRS disclosure preparation, including reconciliation of GAAP differences
  • Maintain tax provision memoranda and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX documentation and audit processes
  • Key client contact, communicating with clients and building strong relationships.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify and support implementation of process improvements in tax provision and compliance functions
  • Coordinate preparation of tax account reconciliations and related schedules
  • Monitor and manage the implications of new accounting standards and regulatory changes (including, but not limited to, BEPS Pillar Two)
  • Help standardize and embed Group Tax Reporting processes to ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in tax reporting processes through design, control, and operational enhancements
  • Managing account resourcing, budget and delivery

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Support tax reporting aspects of M&A transactions, including purchase accounting and compliance
  • Mentor and develop junior staff on ASC 740, IAS 12, and other key tax concepts; provide performance feedback
  • Partner with internal tax, accounting, and finance teams, as well as external service providers
  • Develop and lead onshore/offshore teams for seamless client service delivery.
  • Ensure the highest quality standards and develop team talent at all levels
  • Help setting engagement strategies and connect clients with EY subject matter experts.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client and internal teams.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience in US GAAP and/or IFRS tax accounting provisions/projects
  • Understanding of ASC 740 and/or IAS 12 frameworks
  • Corporate income tax experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience managing teams and mentoring staff
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with multi-country teams
  • Ability to distil complex concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • Organized and able to deliver tax accounting in a short timeframe
  • Experience coaching and developing junior staff
  • Problem solving capabilities and process improvement mindset
  • Ability to manage budgets and time to deliver quality output
  • Accounting or tax qualification

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • ACA/CA/ACCA/CTA/CPA qualified or equivalent (or working towards qualification)
  • Strong tax accounting skills and working technical knowledge on ASC 740 and/or IAS 12 framework
  • Good experience in tax accounting packages and strong Excel skills
  • Agile to the changing client environment and able to provide quality deliverables under tight timelines
  • Degree qualified
  • Experience in corporate tax
  • Experience providing tax services to a portfolio of clients
  • Proactive and able to identify opportunities for business development
  • Supervisory skills and ability to develop and coach team members

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Project management skills, ability to plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor budgets
  • Experience managing international projects
  • Experience in process and technology design is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Understanding of BEPS Pillar Two and OECD GloBE Framework
  • Knowledge of withholding tax processes
