MENA Tax - Global Compliance & Reporting, Senior Consultant

As part of a MENA team, you will be providing high quality tax accounting and tax compliance services to clients across a range of industries. You will look after service delivery, coordination, issue resolution, and contract management of large-scale projects where you will need to execute the delivery of tax accounting and compliance services by EY teams in the region.

Key responsibilities

You will work hand in hand with our tax and accounting professionals to help deliver our clients’ tax compliance and reporting needs. You will also establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships with clients to help ensure that the services delivered are of the highest standards and are done on time.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of client engagements, monitor progress and deliverables, partake in the necessary standardized processes, anticipate and identify risks, escalate issues as appropriate and follow performance-improvement solutions.

In addition to the above, you will be supporting the team in marketing and business development initiatives to grow our GCR client base in the region. You are also expected to support GCR proposals by providing assistance on fee gathering for corporate income tax including Pillar Two taxes.

Skills and attributes for success

If you are an excellent communicator and detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working across borders with a wide network of people and with large amount of data specifically around tax accounting, you will be perfect for the role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials in accounting, business, finance, taxation or any related essential fields.
  • An MBA, Masters or another related advanced degree and/or professional qualifications e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge and minimum 3 years of experience in tax compliance, financial reporting and ERP systems, ideally within a large professional services company or similar environment.

You will also have

  • Experience of dealing with multinational clients and ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong expertise in tax accounting and reporting, tax provisioning, tax reconciliations, and group consolidation tax workings under IAS 12, ASC 740, or similar standards.
  • Experience in end-to-end tax CIT compliance, Pillar Two calculations and reporting, supported by strong proficiency in tax filing software and automation tools
  • Excellent analytical, management and leadership skills.
  • Effective organization and time management skills with ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

As a U.S. Private Tax Manager, you will be a part of our U.S. Private Tax Practice. You will be part of a team that are subject matter specialists who provide advice to private organizations and high net worth business owners and individuals on domestic and cross-border tax planning, estate, wealth transfer and postmortem planning, asset protection strategies and philanthropic planning. Our PCS practice works closely with other tax teams including our transaction tax and international tax groups.

Your key responsibilities

Managers in our U.S. Private tax practice are responsible for recommending and implementing tax strategies that align with the client's objectives, corresponding with tax authorities on client issues, researching compliance & planning issues, and reviewing personal, corporate and trust tax returns.

  • Demonstrating a thorough understanding of U.S. tax concepts as it relates to U.S. federal and state income tax compliance

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and / or another appropriate academic major
  • 5+ years of relevant U.S. tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry
  • An accounting designation or other related experience or certification relevant to this area of specialization i.e., completion of a US CPA and or an IRS Enrolled Agent (“EA”)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills enabling you to thrive within a fast-paced, professional services environment
