As a Nigeria Trade & Working Capital Client Solutions lead, the primary objective of the position is to originate new and support growth of Trade mandates across a portfolio of Nigeria domiciled Conglomerates and Government Related Entities. As such, the role has direct sales (of vanilla, structured and commoditized Trade products), as well as a responsibility to manage and optimize the broader sales channels to support the client across Nigeria and their presence markets

Citi Trade solutions help our clients (both old and new economy) with a diverse range of strategic objectives such as sales growth, return on asset enhancement, risk mitigation, margins and free cashflow. As such, the role involves both:

  • Developing deep client relationships across multiple pillars of our clients’ organizations – including Treasury, Credit Controllership, Sales, Supply Chain &Procurement, Inventory and Sustainability / Digitization.
  • Leveraging data to identify client objectives, pain points, performance and ultimately produce a diagnosis and recommended courses of action for consideration by clients
  • This position will report to the SSA Head of Trade Sales.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Banking teams, cluster and Regional Trade teams, Global Solution Sales and Relationship Management to ensure cohesive origination model for Trade Solutions.
  • Create and execute against client plan and strategy for Trade.
  • Establish client relationships and become a trusted advisor via a consultative sales approach to a portfolio of clients - with core responsibility of originating Trade opportunities for the target clients both in Nigeria and the Citi network where they operate, by providing solutions to cater for both explicit and implicit needs.
  • Thought leadership to ideate with clients and internal teams to put forward the best value add efficient solutions to Citi clients
  • Bring the best of Citi to clients by establishing an exceptional internal network
  • Develop awareness of clients’ ecosystem and environment to up-tier & differentiate the client discussion
  • Deliver trade Budget through existing and new revenue streams, along with new mandates on new complex and unique deals.
  • Efficient Management of RWA and ROTCE at both client and deal levels.

  • Experience with Credit & a diverse range of Trade Products, including Commodity Financing, Accounts Receivable Financing, and Export Credit Agency Backed structures.
  • Experience in Structuring complex Trades across both Open Account and Documentary Trade for clients
  • Experience delivering and executing mandates through global matrix teams
  • Developing marketing strategies to sell the Bank’s relevant products
  • Has compressive knowledge of legal aspects linked to various trade instruments utilized in the market

Skills:

  • Relevant experience working in the Nigeria is a must.

Competencies:

  • Strong persuasion & negotiation skills, with a strong ability to adapt style of communication for audience
  • Track record of creativity, and drive
  • Strong networking skills, both internally and externally & a strong team player
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and Comfortable working in unstructured environment
  • Ability to develop strategy and carry through to execution
  • Quick to adapt to constant change

Qualifications:

  • Accounting background with good aptitude
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations, market practices and bank operations
  • Analytical and Advanced problem solving skills
  • A minimum of first degree or its equivalent in any discipline plus a relevant higher degree or professional qualification.
  • Candidates must also have a minimum of 15 years postgraduation experience, out of which at least 12 must have been in the banking industry and at least 2 as Deputy General Manager.
  • Evidence of experience in at least three (3) major areas of banking operations.
  • Masters degree will be an added advantage
  • Fluent in English language

Job Purpose:

  • Provide support to the Citi Country Finance Officer (CFO) to protect the Franchise and to ensure Citi is appropriately managing Finance related risks as it affects the business activities in the country.
  • Oversee the management and audit of Internal Capital Adequacy Process (ICAAP) and ensure that ICAAP is embedded within the Bank’s capital planning
  • Proactively identify and resolve country finance issues, supporting the financial reporting, control and management of legal vehicles in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer and support the Funds Transfer Pricing policy of the Bank and provide partnership / support to the businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that accounting complies with Corporate and local generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting guidelines
  • Responsible for the preparation of the annual Internal Capital Adequacy Process (ICAAP) and handling all queries related to ICAAP as it pertains to capital planning and management
  • Ensuring internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
  • Ensuring that appropriate statutory audits and examinations are conducted.
  • Ensuring that the tracking of corrective actions for internal, management Risk and Management Control Assessments (“MCA”) and external audits are diligently performed.
  • Involvement with major issues in the various businesses that could give rise to the regulatory concerns or franchise risks.
  • Advice the CFO and senior management of the financial and regulatory ramifications of any ethical and business practice concerns that arise within the country.
  • Responding to internal and external inquiries (including regulatory inquiries) in coordination with Citi corporate offices.
  • Lead or participate in any crisis management investigations that may have financial implications.
  • Establish and maintain appropriatedocumentation/controlsto ensure the integrity of financial, regulatory and management information.
  • Create effective control environment to ensure adherence with all internal and external policies and procedures. Coordinate audits and internal reviews. Establish a process to ensure all necessary reporting functions are operating effectively and efficiently.

Business Relationships:

  • Interact with the various business units within the Bank including coverage teams, products and Risk.
  • Ensure that the control environment remains safe and sound by liaising with Operational Risk Management (ORM), Compliance and the Regulatory Reporting Governance Committee (RRGC).
  • Act as regulatory liaison by proactively dealing with the requirements of the Central Bank of Nigeria and other regulators.
  • Responsible for oversight over taxes that are applicable to the Bank.

Knowledge:

  • Analytical and Financial Skills: applicant must have understanding of the Firm's financials, balance sheet and income statement with ICG Product knowledge, ability to discern key drivers and risk/opportunities.
  • Communication skills: will be interacting with the senior management in the franchise, on a variety of internally driven and function driven deliverables.
  • Teamwork/RelationshipManagement: the position requires extensive teamwork, partnership and collaboration across Finance and other functions
  • Experience in Citi reporting processes or Product processing group will be an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of banking products and business
  • Knowledge of bank’s systems, e.g. Flexcube, Smart, Pearl, etc

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of finance professionals.
  • Good teamwork and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power point and word office software.

Academic Qualification / Other Requirements

  • Minimum of First Degree or equivalent in any discipline plus a relevant higher degree
  • Possession of ACA, ACCA, CFA or other relevant professional qualification or relevant higher degree required”
  • Minimum of 15 Years post-graduation experience, of which 10 Years must be in Banking
  • 3 Years as Senior Manager or equivalent level with experience in at least three (3) major areas of banking operations.
