Design engineers in the GPU Group are responsible for the development of next-generation GPU IP for graphics and compute. They are required to have in-depth understanding across all the elements that contribute to the products’ successful delivery, including: low-power design techniques, awareness of the impact of design decisions on system performance, ability to produce designs that are area efficient, and the verification techniques that are employed to ensure high-quality robust designs.

We are looking for dedicated, hard-working engineers who are capable of owning parts of GPU micro-architecture, contributing to all phases of the design flow:

• The definition and implementation of hardware designs
• Technically supporting other specialists
• Writing and reviewing design and verification documentation
• Planning and tracking design tasks to meet the targets at the planned time

• Hands-on experience using System Verilog, Verilog or VHDL HDL for design
• Experience in complex designs that achieve performance, area, frequency and power targets
• Ability to make judgements on functionality, performance, and physical implementation trade-offs
• Experience of producing specifications and documentation describing complex designs
• Ability to own all stages of a project from start to completion: concept, specification, implementation and testing, support

• Practical experience of working on GPU/microprocessor designs
• Knowledge of 3d Graphics - OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX
• Working knowledge of SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA)
• Knowledge of scripting eg Python, Perl or UNIX shell scripting

Verification engineers in the GPU Group are responsible for innovation and development of next-generation GPU IP for graphics and compute.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in System Verilog and UVM methodology OR formal verification
• Exposure to all stages of unit verification: collection of requirements, defining test methodologies, writing test plans, developing testbenches and test cases, debugging complex designs and testbenches, coverage closure.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a large team.

• Experience with both UVM & formal verification
• Experience working with project management and leads on planning tasks, setting schedules, and quality checkpoints.
• Experience mentoring team members or reviewing other’s technical work.
• Knowledge of scripting (e.g. Python, Perl or Unix shell scripting).
• Experience with continuous integration platforms (e.g., Jenkins) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with verification for Safety and Security requirements.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture.

Job Overview

You will specify and develop new hardware verification testbenches for future generation hardware IP. You will improve existing testbenches to increase performance, quality and efficiency. You will also identify areas for improvement in processes and methodologies, then implement those changes to advance our best-practices for hardware verification. Depending on prior experience, the responsibilities of the role can include:

• Verification ownership of unit level or multi-unit hierarchy or alternatively verification lead of an overall IP (ISP, Display, Video).
• Architecting verification IP and full verification environments.
• Reviewing and assessing proposed design changes from a verification complexity point of view.
• Analysis of data from simulation runs using machine learning and data science techniques to drive efficient bug discovery and debug.
• Identify cross Media IP process or methodology improvement opportunities, implementing changes to advance hardware verification efficiency.
• Close collaboration with other Arm engineering teams leading to high quality IP that works well in a complete system.
• Mentor & support other members of the team.

• Experience in working with constrained-random verification including ownership of a suitably complex verification environment and creating testbenches.
• Experience developing reusable and scalable code whilst having in-depth knowledge of SV-UVM.
• Strong scripting skills – being able to develop scripts to support new and existing flows.
• Solid software engineering skills including understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
• Familiar with the tools and processes for developing testbenches and finishing all aspects of the verification process.
• Prior technical and/or team leadership skills required for more senior positions.

• Team leadership and mentoring experience.
• Multiprocessing microarchitecture experience including knowledge of bus protocols (e.g. AMBA APB/AHB/AXI).
• Past experience in Formal Verification testbenches.
• Experience in video codec, ISP, or display projects, including knowledge of advanced image processing algorithms, such as local tone mapping, noise reduction, motion estimation, transform coding, etc.
• Experience of Functional Safety product development for the Automotive market (applying standards such as ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508).
• Experience with Continuous Integration flows.

• Responsible for delivering a comprehensive set of tools to enable IoT developers to migrate and deploy their applications and ML models on Arm based platforms
• Define the strategy for platform and ML tooling to support Arm’s IoT products and IP portfolio
• Collaborate with the Arm developer ecosystem and customers to understand the tools and frameworks required to deploy their workloads
• Work across product and engineering teams to ensure that required tools, frameworks and libraries are delivered to provide support for key customers on our solutions
• Manage partnerships with strategic third-party vendors to incorporate and optimize their products on the Arm architecture

• Relevant software development experience on Linux based systems, as a software architect or lead developer for one or more products
• Prior experience building applications with ML frameworks, such as PyTorch
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build consensus across product and engineering teams
• Exceptional leadership skills, with a history of building and motivating high-performing teams.

• Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, such as electronic engineering or computer science.
