Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • Develop industry leading creative solutions for assigned concept or category, to create a highly relevant, desirable and clear adidas brand image, from sell in to sellout (consumer-facing)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative development for campaign or category across multiple consumer touchpoints, from 2D to retail to digital to motion
  • Develop concepts and creative strategies that fulfill objectives of category, concept, or brand briefs
  • Collaborate with Product Design team to ensure holistic storytelling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure consumer- and brand focus
  • Lead the execution of creative strategies to ensure end to end creative excellence from sellin to sellout (consumer-facing)
  • Direct a variety of creative resources (agencies, freelancers, writers, photographers, etc) on development of creative execution to ensure holistic creative excellence
  • May lead, mentor and administrate a team of internal direct reports
  • Review and approve production stages of final creative execution
  • Maximise results within given budget and timeframes
  • Participate in the creation of annual and long-term Creative Direction strategies
  • Present and communicate objective creative solutions with clarity, effectively selling in ideas to variety of stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects
  • Seek out new Design resources that can deliver world class results
  • Creating 3D concept representation, 3D assets, digital product information for an accuratedevelopment and decision-making process

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • IT skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint: advanced /Outlook
  • Design apps: expert
  • Strong visual and verbal skills with the ability to create impactful/exciting visuals
  • Art Direction of large scale product and athlete/celebrity photoshoots
  • Language: English: excellent
  • Strong 3D skills and knowledge of virtual tools are required

APP tools: Clo3D, Browzwear, VStitcher or similar 3D fashion design tools

FTW tools: Rhino, Modo, ICAD Pro, or similar 3D design tools

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Under-graduate level Design education or combination thereof
  • Solid education and advanced experience in the creative development of communication tools
  • At least 8 years experience in Sporting Goods/Fashion Industry or Design on managerial level
  • Proven experience with the entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution, pre-press processes)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Senior Footwear designer - Skateboardingworking in cooperation with multiple cross functional teams. Relentless passion to create the future.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Concept, design, and develop creative solutions to concepts within thecategory. Present the designs in context to the category direction.
  • Concept and execute across footwear design, as well as color and material design with key collaborative partners.
  • Develop concepts and creative strategies that fulfill objectives of category, concept, briefs.
  • Implement the creative vision in a product range for the Skateboarding BU.
  • Self-manage own creative process and execute towards given design direction within the category.
  • Execute design work according to the visual language of adidas as well as given Corporate Identity guidelines according to legal guidance.
  • Verbally present product ideas and details with clarity.
  • Ensure efficient process and communication flow between design, marketing, and development for all issues regarding the designed ranges and products.
  • Ensure proper handover of tech packs into development. Main duty is to submit all relevant information needed for the development process such as sketches, detail sketches, fabric and trim indication, artworks, etc.
  • Visualize ideas for products and ranges with a high degree of expertise.

  • Strong 3D skills and knowledge of virtual tools are required
  • FTW tools: Rhino, Modo, ICAD Pro, or similar 3D design tools
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of footwear, product development, color and material, and trims for assigned product range.
  • Knowledge of skateboarding landscape and culture encouraged but not necessary.
  • Knowledge and use of Mac computer design software/systems (Photoshop, Illustrator,3D)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Under-graduate level Design education or combination thereof
  • At least 6-8 yearspractical experience in a footwear design environment
  • Proven experience with the entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution)

Key Responsibilities:

Continuously aware of information needed to design a consumer and brand relevant collection. Should include all possible sources to gain this information:

•Trade fairs, cultural events, and sporting events, athlete insights

•Trade publications, general interest press, trend services, fashion and sportswear magazines and websites

•Store checks, market visits, and team travel as provided

•Relevant forecast and sell-through numbers from our Marketing counterparts

Assists in seasonal and long-term design direction for their category within the following topics:

•Footwear and Apparel Color

•Footwear Materials

•Graphics/Print Direction

Contributes to aforementioned design direction by, but not limited to:

•Providing trend forecasting content relevant to our consumer and brand

•Providing direction and assisting in developing materials with the Material Team

•Working with Local and Global counterparts to provide category relative Color and Material direction when required

•Providing Color and Material content and direction

•Collaboration and critiquing

•To understand technical details of the product

Builds top-line range strategy into their product range. This includes but is not limited to:

•Support Senior Team Lead by owning holistic category overviews, rollouts, and merchandising strategy for the category

•Supports communication content to Footwear, Apparel, and Graphics Teams to align strategy

•Support and inform horizontal brand moments and category moments by leading products, Color and Material narratives/executions, and tiered rollout plans in partnership with Design, Marketing, and CTC. This is a collaborative effort across disciplines & functions together.

PRODUCT EXECUTION

•Seasonal prep and research stated above

•Creates product design presentations; both physical and digital

•Exploratory process to reach final solution

•Creates Color CADs, Material Maps
& Graphic Maps.

•Considers the larger impact of creating merchandized range

•Works closely with Development to assist in development process & costing; meet development timelines and calendar deadlines per seasonal milestone.

•Travel to Asia for development trips

•Assists in communicating inspiration and storytelling to Marketing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Computer Skills

•Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop

•Power Point/Key Note

•Apple Mac Operating system

3D not required, but beneficial

•Understanding of brand history and current positioning

•Understanding of marketplace (footwear/streetwear/urban) history, consumer, and current positioning

•Has a strong understanding of color and material trends, application, and cycles

•Ability to understand design concepts and think conceptually

•Ability to create designs that meet category needs and commercial opportunities

•Ability to design for new initiatives and products with a fresh, innovative perspective

•Ability to operate in a fast pace, ever changing work environment

•Works well in a team environment. This position requires employee to engage with many stakeholders, as well as manage various information and relationships

•Ability and desire to push themselves, others, and the brand forward.

•Ability to influence and collaborate with key business partners

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

•Four year college or university degree in industrial, graphics, apparel or footwear design

•Practical experience in footwear design, fashion design or any design relevant environment

•Thorough knowledge of art and design with clear understanding of visual design or any design related environment

•Three years relevant work experience

•Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
