Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Auditor
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) auditor in Corporate Product Stewardship, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Acting as a lead auditor and/or support auditor on assigned audits.
- Executing the audit in accordance with the program’s requirements, processes, and standard work.
- Creating and managing the audit schedule in coordination with the audit client.
- Completing the pre-audit tasks.
- Managing the audit in CAMMS.
- Keeping the TSCA audit schedule up to date.
- Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document process.
- Work closely with the TSCA audit program leader and the TSCA audit program team.
- Facilitating regulatory compliance audits with external auditors.
- Contribute to continuous knowledge development regarding TSCA regulation, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
- Leading or participating in improvement projects and workstreams.
- Support corporate product stewardship initiatives.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience in environmental compliance, chemical management, or a related field
- Prior experience leading environmental or regulatory audits, including planning, execution, and reporting, experience specifically with TSCA regulations in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA) are highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of TSCA regulations, as well as other relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Strong knowledge of chemical properties, toxicology, and risk assessment. Familiarity with chemical inventory management systems and safety data sheets (SDS). Ability to analyze complex data, identify compliance issues, and develop effective corrective actions.
- Excellent report writing skills to document audit findings, compliance status, and recommendations clearly and concisely. Strong verbal communication skills to effectively convey audit results and compliance requirements to various stakeholders, including management and operational staff. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using audit management software, chemical inventory systems, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques to evaluate compliance data.

- Hybrid - 3M Center in Maplewood MN 3 days a week
