Job Summary:
Ideal candidate can perform machining functions as required in the fabrication and repair of plant tooling and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Minimum of 5 years of Machining and CNC Programing Experience.
- Ability to expand machine shop capabilities and help grow the machine shop to support a growing business.
- Understanding of Mastercam or equivalent for Mills and Lathes.
- Ability to set up, create and edit programs on Haas mills and lathe.
- Experience with mill and lathe tool selection.
- Ability to trouble shoot programming, tooling, and set up issues.
- Support Supervisor and Lead in the daily workflow activities.
- Willingness to train and support in a team environment.
- Analyze mechanical structure on equipment and proceed on a course of action and repair.
- Perform advanced corrective maintenance on mechanical machinery, tooling, and associated equipment.
- Perform advanced preventative maintenance, such as, cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and replacing defective parts in order to maintain efficient operation of equipment.
- Design and work from blueprints, schematic drawings, verbal instruction, handbooks, or manuals.
- Construct tools, implements, auxiliary equipment and perform modifications to existing equipment.
- Direct shop repairs, projects, and periodic overhaul of equipment and in the event of a breakdown, re-establish operation of the equipment by making needed repairs.
- Perform advanced work in various machinist trade categories, such as welding, pipe systems, rigging and tooling.
- Maintain accurate paperwork as required. Keep work area and equipment clean and well organized.
- Sharpen dies and perform die maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
- Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance .
Education and Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience
- Training in machining and metal fabrication.
- Must be able to pass a Mechanical Comprehension test.
- Thorough knowledge of plant tooling and equipment.
- Knowledge of machine shop equipment and tools.
- Welding capability a plus.
- Understanding of mechanical blueprints and symbology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Associate degree related to a technical discipline or working towards their degree preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, diagrams, and procedure manuals.
Physical and Travel Requirements
- Frequent bilateral grip/grasp and manual dexterity work required.
- Frequent bending and twisting, pushing and pulling as required by the job.
- Must be able to tolerate industrial odors, heat and high temperatures, and smells on a frequent basis
- Minimal travel if any.
