A day in the lifeAs part of the Prime Video Encoding team, you will work on building and optimizing encodes that enables delivery of high quality audio/video for Amazon Prime Video customers worldwide. You will work on advanced Audio Video standards such as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Atmos, AV1 and state-of-the-art compression techniques such as Segment Adaptive Encoding, Distributed Chunk Encoding etc. to enhance the viewing experience of the end users. You will also work on subjective and objective quality metrics to enable better and consistent viewing experience at lower bitrates. You will leverage many of the key Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies including EC2, S3, API Gateway, ECS, Lambda, SWF, Sagemaker and Dynamo DB towards that goal.About the hiring group
Job responsibilities* Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
* Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
* Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
* Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
* Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
* Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
* Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
* Experience in digital media, especially knowledge of video streaming, compression, codec formats, video encoding and packaging is a plus but not mandatory. Should be willing to dive into and learn new technologies.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
