As a 3D Design Engineer, you will be collaboratewith Product Design, Simulation, and Process Engineering, to establish HighPressure Die Casting tooling requirements and create fully detailed 3D CAD(Catia) design models for die fabrication by tooling suppliers.

• Createthe CAD design of new die cast tooling from concept thru production, includingsplit lines, slides, ejection, vent and cooling system (e.g. waterlines in toolsteel as well as internal and external plumbing)
• Providefeedback to Product Design Engineers to achieve the right balance betweenproduct performance and manufacturability from a tooling perspective (e.g.draft angles, rib/boss geometry, etc.)
• Incorporateinput from Flow and Thermal Simulation Engineers into the die design
• Capturefeedback from Casting Process Engineers into new and replacement dies
• Developnew ideas to push the envelope of performance (cycle time, yield, uptime) andminimize risk
• Providetechnical oversight of tooling suppliers
• Assistin the development of tooling design and fabrication schedules, then executeaccordingly
• Manageparallel, rather than serial, product design, die design, and die fabricationtimelines
• Preparedocumentation for ease of die assembly and disassembly for technicians.
• Keeptrack of design changes made on the dies
• Checkthe die condition before production after maintenance/refurbishment to ensureall the design changes were implemented in the die.
• Inspectthe die condition routinely to see what changes are needed to improve die life

• MechanicalEngineering degree, or equivalent in experience
• Minimum 2 years of hands on experience in highpressure die casting tooling design/engineering is a must.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in designing HPDCdies and inserts in CATIA V5 is a must.
• Experience in die development from new program launchto continuous production of HPDC parts is a plus.
• Provenrecord of experience in designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and toolingin CAD
• Strongto expert level 3D CAD skills, including advanced surfacing and largeassemblies
